First, welcome to the Shack. It's a pretty cool place for all kinds of HT and audio stuff.
Sonnie is probably right about the MIDI thing. I think you can determine the firmware revision by powering up the unit while holding down the "Filter Select" button. If it's 1.3, then you have a problem. You can upgrade to 1.4, and all the gory details are
here, I believe.
I have also incorrectly connected the "in" cable to the "in" jack on the BFD, where they should actually be connected the other way (at least for my application). It's a poor labeling system, as connecting "in" to "in" makes sense, as does connecting "in" to "out".
