Thats been a complaint of mine for at lest two years. As this also affects up converting DVD players as only a select few allow even 1080i or 720p to be sent via Component and this is only allowed after a firmware hack in most cases on the few that do like the LG that I use.
In my case up until recently I only had an older CRT RPTV that is HD capable but only through component as it doesnt have DVI or HDMI.
This is going to continue being a major pain in the but given this ruling. Home theater: Onkyo TXSR805 receiver, Samson Servo 4120 bridged @240wattsX2,
