I would just urge caution when doing this type of shot. Maybe block the suns rays with one hand, focus the shot and then remove your hand, and then take a quick shot, thus reducing exposure. Just a quick idea.

Isn't the sensor only exposed when the mirror flips up? Isn't UV less @ sunset?
