| DIYTheater.com No Contrast screen paint kit Any ways, as I have finally settled on my screen size, I began the application. I had previously put down four coats of Killz2 to cover up the red paint. I used that for a few weeks to be sure I was OK with the size and everything.
Yesterday, I put two coats of the included primer just to be safe. It does not dry as fast as the Killz2 and it smoothed out on top of the Killz2 very nice. I basically have to put my nose against the screen to see anything. The texture of the wall is less than that of an eggshell.
So, six coats total on top of the deep red paint. The directions say to wait a minimum of six hours before applying the screen paint so I let it go over night.
I just finished my first coat of the screen paint. Waiting an hour before applying the second coat. I noticed that the paint that got on my hands is sparkling. As if some super fine glitter was in the paint. Also, the paint is not as white as one might think. I have definitely seen whiter paint, I'd even say that Killz2 is more white than the screen paint. Now, just to clarify, this is a subtle difference in white and I am not saying that Killz2 has a higher gain and has a more uniform spectral balance. I have no clue on that.
I am taking pics which I'll post when I have completed the screen. I'll make some paint chips and take some pics of the screen paint and the Killz2 to see side-by-side.
