The size alone will restrict where you can place it. I highly doubt that they followed the instructions to keep it in a space where it can breath. My Onkyo gets warm but not so hot that its in danger of catching fire or for that matter to cause me concern. I dont think its wise to put any receiver or amp in a position where its not open on the top or has other equipment giving off heat below them.
