The statement "The importance of CES is huge for the AV industry and far beyond" is the underlying assumption that is inconsistent with the perspective of most dealers and vendors in the home theater and audio business. This has been the case for years as CES has become too large and broad in scope to be very useful. CEDIA is a far more useful event. CES has become little more than a reason to generate some press about how well the industry is doing, how big it is, and to showcase the latest gadgets. Most quality dealers stopped payin much attention to it years ago. Many vendors do not have the presence there that they once did.
Exactly. Its not the Home Theater and Fine Audio show, Its Consumer Electronics. It is going to continue to grow and add many, many, gadgets and technology. This means home theater becomes less and less significant. It sounds to me that the author was upset that he, personally, didn't have time to get to everything, so he suggests a longer show so he can get his hands on more stuff. I can't say I blame him for wanting to see more. Choices bring the need to prioritize. Pick whats most important to you, and go see it. Have fun and let all the companies make their announcements. Whatever you do, don't try to cover it all yourself. It'll kill ya.
