Well I finally got it working. I did a dual boot install with XP and didn't have the onboard sound fully setup with the proper driver yet. I really didn't think this would matter or make a difference though since I would be using the external USB M-Audio. I got onboard sound functional, then reinstalled driver for the M-Audio and set it as the default device for input/output. All this apparently did the trick. I did trial and error on 3 different computers and had similar results with REW locking up when you try to take a calibration measurement, and there was still nothing in the log file.
Anyway, here is the soundcard reading if anybody is curious. This is for the M-Audio Fast Track Pro.
