Yes, you can use REW without calibrating the card, but not being able to calibrate tha card is usually a symptom of a problem that would also mean it would not be possible to get valid measurements. In your case, not being able to get a line input working but getting something from the mic level input on your pro card, may as well try taking some measurements and post the results (or the .mdat file from a measurement) and we can see whether it has worked.
