| Hello from the agony booth Introducing myself. Drew. I'm a 60 yr old studio musician, performer and general audio mercenary in Los Angeles. In addition to our HT, I built a 10.2 surround mix/mastering suite designed by me and friends George Augspurger and the late John Eargle, in my home studio. Regular gig is mastering CDs and DVDs, recording for commercial releases, a few films a year, lots of CDs, lots of location jazz dates, and a few DVDs. Been at it commercially since '61 and still enjoy it a lot. I guess you could say it's a true passion. Love technology advances in our industry. Keeps old timers like me on our toes, though at times twists and turns change takes seem mysterious, or at the hands of MBAs and lawyers, confounding. I'm an ardent mp3 hater but I still use it. I watch for compression advances that do the least damage, and experiment with them for myself and my record label clients. I teach audio subjects at UCLA and maintain a web presence at drewdaniels.com. Cheers to all. |
