Hiya,
Most roundover bits have a bearing at the bottom, which will guide the bit against the side. If yours doesn't, they don't cost a lot to buy.
If you're going to be go down this route it's worth making a temporary sub-base for your router that sticks out several inches to one side (so it would rest on the 'top' as you route). This makes it much easier to avoid tipping the router as you run down the side.
