No problem.
I wouldn't even worry about getting an extender - what you can do is cut a few donuts out of your scrap wood that have an ID the same size as the ID of the port. This will allow you to extend the length of the port without needing more 6" tube. Then build a final donut or two that has an ID the same size as the OD of the port, allowing a channel for the port to lock into and be adhered to. These donuts don't have to be very big either, 2" difference between ID and OD should be plenty (8" diameter donuts).
