Subwoofer in Stadium Seating Box

I built a 6'x4' box to set one couch on for stadium seating. I also carpeted the box so you can't tell it's not a permanent part of the room. I just bought a JBL dual 8" in wall subwoofer and would like to cut a hole in the box and put it in there. Any advice on where on the box I should put it? The box is 12 inches high. I thought about putting it on the front of the box so it faces the couch in front of the box so everyone will feel it. My other thoughts are put it on the top of the box (facing the bottom of the couch). I'm new to this and have an Onkyo 5.1 channel reciever that will be about 15 feet away. I could use advice. Thanks
