i was reading and jus wondered if you had any of the tube left over from when you cut it,and if it is enough that if reatatched you would have the length you wanted.
i dabble in wooden boat building (fiberglass-epoxy to join water tight seams) ,and if my tube was to short, and i had to, id cut the scrap to make the total length i needed from the 2 pcs, and fiberglass/epoxy it back together,, inside and out.
if you were carefull, it should be fine.
