i dabble in wooden boat building (fiberglass-epoxy to join water tight seams) ,and if my tube was to short, and i had to, id cut the scrap to make the total length i needed from the 2 pcs, and fiberglass/epoxy it back together,, inside and out.
if you were carefull, it should be fine.

Oops...i think i misread your post....
if your talking about the pvc pipe.....ports cant be longer than 36"
