Re: Whole house audio problem - Easy fix???

Yeah, I was also suggesting to not use AMP2, but I think he doesn't want to have to install the VC near the speakers or the patio -- a logistical thing.

brucek is right -- putting those two speakers (at 4 ohms each) in series like that will present an 8 ohm load to your amp. Wiring your "other" side the same way will preserve your stereo signals. Each series-wired pair, of course, will be playing the same signal.

How about running the deck main speakers off the selector (the way it was when it worked fine).
Sounds like it was working OK in this case. What are you trying to change about it? VC placement?

Quote:
Then attaching a line level convertor off the signal going to the speakers from the VC. Then running the line level feed into the amp2 which would then only power the new speakers.
Sounds like it's technically possible...

Since the amp2 would have gain and volume control, I figure I could make the gross adjustment on the amp. The line level convertor should be able to do the rest to keep the new speakers matched in volume to the old ones.
I think that would work, but it sounds kinda convoluted. I think putting another VC in cascade with the first would attenuate the signal going to AMP2's speaker level inputs to let it work properly. Either way, how do you plan on making the LLC?
