Squamous cell carcinoma...

Well, I'll kick this thing off. You guys be thinkin' of me tomorrow about 3:15pm CST. I'll be having a basal cell removed from my neck. The surface area was removed a couple of weeks ago and sent off for biopsy, coming back positive but fortunately non-invasive. Now I simply have to have outpatient surgery to remove the entire cell and surrounding tissue. It's not suppose to be that complicated nor a very serious procedure but still say a prayer for me and keep me in mind.

Thanks!

Re: Basal cell cancer...

Well it's hopefully over, if he got it all that is. The chunk he cut out today will be sent off for biopsy.

Ends up it was Squamous cell carcinoma instead of Basal cell. Squammous will eventually spread if not removed.

Re: Squamous cell carcinoma...

I go back next Tuesday morning to have the stitches removed and they are supposed to have the results back then.

If they didn't get it all this time, then I'll go to a specialist... but we are fairly confident they got it since those cells gon't initially occupy that much space. By the chunk he took out of neck you would think so though.

Sonnie,
for almost ten years I am working in a company closely related to a problem of melanomas, carcinomas etc...

Unless something really goes unexpected way you should be on the safe side by now.

All the best.

Re: Squamous cell carcinoma...

I suppose no results are good results. Spent two hours at the docs office. They thought they had left a small amount of suture and had to dig around to make sure. Tender area obviously, but I didn't cry. At least the stitches are out and that feels 100% better. Hope to hear the results in the next day or two, but I'm thinking all is okay.

Thanks Jeff and Reed... the prayers are certainly appreciated. Surprisingly the area on my neck has healed very well. I'm still hoping that no news is good news.
