I wouldn't mind a 1 week coma right now.
Don't know why I'm so tired, but, I am.

A week off would be great! Am trying to think when last I had one full week off, maybe in February this year though it could also be last year August. It really is bad when I cannot even remember the date of my last holiday/break.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Pretty day here as well. Thermostat is gone on my car so I took it to the dealer to have it replaced. Had to leave my car with them and so ended up walking home, not too bad except it is snowing, windy and cold and I walked about 8km!! To top it all off the dealer phoned me not five minutes ago and there is a problem with replacing the thermostat, the casing is broken and they have to order the part from Sweden. I am now without a car until at least Friday and the repair is now going to cost almost three times more than initially anticipated. I am not impressed at all .I think it is time for a large whiskey, especially seeing as though I won't be driving anywhere!!

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Fin, that stinks. Seems like whenever a car breaks down, it costs 3x more than I expected.
And having to walk home in the snow.. for a California boy like me, that just doesn't have ANY appeal.

Hopefully, it ends up being better than it looks.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

I suppose that what does not kill you just makes you stronger, or something to that effect anyway! The walk actually was not that bad, more ticked off about the car.

JCD: Have a look at this this It is the video of 'Gone, daddy gone' the song by Violent Femmes as covered by Gnarls Barkley, do not his/the bands music, just recognised the song title, not a bad version IMO, strange video though!

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Sorry, I should have warned you about it. next time see a day coming I'll let you know.

cars!!!....
and the worst part is you never know if you are being taken for a ride with the amount of work supposedly required and how much it actually cost.

I had to take our car to the mech's a couple of weeks ago, he looked at me like this , then i started to do this then he went so I went to my father in law and said then we both went to the mechanic and did this and the mechanic finally went now I am feeling a bit but the car runs fine.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Good morning! Today can only be better than yesterday. We are having some kind of a snow storm, pretty much snowed most of the night. The current temp is -4 (25F) with a wind chill factor of -12 (11F). Have to go by bus to work and will have to leave early as everything seems to be running late due to the weather, almost nice NOT having to drive in this weather.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Good afternoon!

Beautiful day here at about 70F/21C.... spent a little time outside earlier.

We are fortunate to have a mechanic that is actually honest, at least he has proven so in a couple of situations. We've had a couple of our customers been quoted needing a new engine and it was a simple less than $200 repair. Other times we've had customers quoted outrageous prices on engines and he would save them quite a bit on the same rebuilt engine and warranty. Franchise dealers are overpriced on most of their shop/repair work.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Morning all. Nice day here, the sun is shining and there is clean white snow on the ground, quite beautiful if a little cold. We had masses of snow and with a strong wind, it was quite nice to not drive in the bad conditions as they were pretty treacherous, saw quite a few cars in the ditch as well as a truck and an articulated bus jacknifed across the road.

Good Morning!

Kind of dreary here this morning. We are about to hit a cold spell... not drastic, but enough for a coat.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Its starting to get below freezing here at night. Last night we had a bunch of friends over and built a big bonfire. We cooked hotdogs and marshmallows and made smores. Spiced apple cider and coffee kept us warm too. Then the guys went inside to have a listen to the new IB.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Good Morning!

Well we froze our buns off for two night in a row. Our in county football rival gave was Thursday night, both teams 9-0 and both going to the State play-offs, different classes. We got there over an hour early and still have to stand up at the fence. We were frozen at the end of the third quarter so we left.

Last night we did something similar Naut... we had our annual fellowship gathering with hotdogs and 5 huge pots of chili, then there was sausage, snacks, etc... with cooler fulls of hot chocolate and several bags of marshmellows and several little cozy fires going. It was fun... but still cold as a witches ear.

Here I am. Been busy today, another crazy Monday. I have a college paper to write, I hope I finish early enough to watch "X3" on DVD.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Funny you should ask.. got back from a AICPA conference in Scottsdale this weekend.
It had perfect weather. It was also mondo expensive. The hotel I stayed at was $500/night normally.. not that it was worth $500/night or that's what my firm paid, but still..

Anyway, still recovering. First of all, the classes start at 8:00am. I'm NOT a morning person at all, so being ready by 8 is actually hard for me.
Not only that, I lost an hour because of a time zone change. So I'm really waking up at 7am
Then, because you're in a new bed, you don't sleep as well
And then, since you're away, you maybe have a bit more to drink than you should
So you start feeling like

Anyway, that's where I've been.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

:holycow: JCD... what a weekend... My weekend was fairly good except for sitting through the whoopin' Miss State put on my Crimson Tide.

Naut, I've had a somewhat busier day today myself. A couple of unexpected fires to put out.
