College American Football.
My team, UC Berkeley (aka California, aka Cal) lost to a team they should have not have.
For good or ill, I get a bit invested in these games.

Evening all!

drf: How was the model train exhibition? Loved model trains as a kid, probably still would now if I had the time and didn't have this addiction to music and HT.

JCD: Frustrating when your team loses. We (South-Africa) lost to Ireland on Saturday playing rugby union, never a good thing. Will admit in getting some enjoyment seeing England, defending world champions lose their seventh consecutive game.

Anybody here follow the rugby at all? The rugby world cup is on next year and while I hope we win it looks as though the All Blacks (New Zealand) will be the team to beat.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

The trains were brilliant, I managed to get another room in the house to dedicate to model trains now , My 5 year old has beeen over excited the last 2 days about getting a model train setup like the ones on display.

don't follow the rugby that closely but I reckon the wallaby's will have a faircrack at the all blacks.

JCD, I know how you feel, my team Sydney (Australian rules Football) lost the grandfinal by 1 point this year.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Good morning!

I reckon the Wallabies are in with a chance as are the Springboks and the All Blacks, do not really see any other team winning it though France are hosts which will give them some advantage, they did however lose 47-3 at home against the All Blacks over the weekend.

Being slightly biased (I am a Saffer) I would love a Springbok-All Blacks final though that probably is just a pipe dream.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Good Morning!

I played Rugby back about 25 years ago... I haven't followed it since I realized I wasn't man enough for it. That has got to be the most taxing sport in the world. Non-stop physical contact with no pads... a real mans sport for sure. It doesn't get much advertisment in the U.S. I can't remember the last time a game was shown on TV here.

I was into model trains as a kid myself. I had several sets including an older Lionel train set. I've always been rather fascinated with them.

Did you get any pictures of the train sets to share with us?

The world cup is being held next year in France starting in September and the USA have qualified so maybe some of the games will get shown there. USA are in the same group as England, South-Africa, Samoa and another qualifier. here is a link to the official website if anyone is interested.

I didn't even think to take the camera. I have to learn how to post pictures first anyway.

if I remember right, didn't the US used to have a rugby team for the olympics a few years back, but they decided to pull out for whatever reason?

I thought I had replied to this.. must forgotten to hit "submit".

Anyway, i'd like to get a little more into it, but we don't get many games televised here. I have a slightly vested interest now. My sister married a Kiwi. When I went there, you'd think the All Blacks were a national religion rather than a national team.

The other bit is that Cal is THE rugby college powerhouse in the US. We've won 21 of the last 26 championships. I've been meaning to go to a game for a long time, but just don't seem to find the time.

Yes Sirrr! I promise I won't forget next time Sir.

How does the hosting work? Do I just use the attach tool from the top of the reply box?

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Hosting is when someone allows you to place an image on the net and you have a URL to link to that image so you can post the image. In our Home Theater Photos area you can upload your photos and we host them for you free. Then when you go to that picture after you have uploaded it, there is a link down below it that you can use to link to it and post it threads using the [img] tags.

I need to setup a non-theater photo area for members though. Any pictures posted rotate through our featured photos on our main forum page and we really only want HT related pics there. But, I can setup a section in photos that doesn't rotate in featured so that we can host those non-HT pics.

Yes, this would be great. One of the perks of membership could be space to save more photos.

I had quite a scare this morning.

The coffee makers at the office weren't working!

Fortunately, I suggested checking the breaker, that was it, and now I've got my precious cup of Joe.

Long day for me... on top of other things.

I got the categories setup now. There is a personal section now you can upload anything to. Well, within the rules that is. But you can upload personal non-home theater related pics like family and friends, etc.

G'day all, I also don't understand being bored, I don't seem to have enough time to get bored.

I am looking forward to hearing how your bass traps work Fin. I really want to start doing my room but I have to get my speakers together first. Hope it all works out well.

we've had rain here in the last week we've had more rain than in the last 2 months.

Been raining (and snowing) here so we have masses of basically slush everywhere. Hope to start on the traps today at some stage, hope they make a difference.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Good Morning!

Well, yesterday afternoon I was bored for about 2 hours. It was storming like crazy here. We had 5+ inches of rain in a very short period of time. Tornadoes all around us. Our power went out and I was handicapped... nothing to do... bored. I couldn't stand it. I could have read a little but it would have had to be by candlelight because it was so dark from the stormy weather... plus I wasn't in the mood. So that's how you get bored. Once power was restored, I was no longer bored. Oh how we are so dependent on the little things such as electricity.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Collected a packet of rockwool panels today, may still start cutting them to size this evening. Still need to get some wood for frames and then material to cover them.

Received a letter from the governing body of the apartment block where I live, apparently someone complained about loud music coming from my apartment. I do understand that loud music can disturb neighbours but I do not know why nobody said anything to me. I phoned the superintendent of my building and he said that apparently my music was loud yesterday, granted it was as I was listening to Led Zeppelin , however I only listened to three songs before going to work, surely people have better things to do than complain about 12 minutes of Led Zeppelin . Obviously my neighbours do not like rock music, maybe need to play some classical stuff for them! Am just irritated that someone felt the need to complain to the superintendent and not mention anything to me, they could have just rung the doorbell and told me to turn it down.

But talking to you direct about a problem would mean they need some kind of backbone. sadley most people these days don't have a backbone and that probably isn't a bad thing since they don't seem to have rational compassion to go with it.

Morning all! It is raining here, would really prefer snow as I want to try and get some photos taken while I have a few days off, unfortunately it is just grey at the moment and will probably stay like that for a few days at least.

Morning all, Wev'e had typical Victorian weather here this week. It got to one stage when the4 weather man simply said he could not predict what the day was going to be like so dress light but rugup .

start of the week we had snow, wednesday was hail and by the end of the week it was 28 degrees and blue sky.
