Re: SOBB - Volume One

We signed our paperwork today!!!! Our house should close on Friday. Too bad I can't take some of the proceeds to buy new stereo equiment! I guess there are more important things in life...

We will not have internet for a couple more days at the condo we are renting. Good thing I have access at work!

This condo is so much smaller than our house. Our 57" tv is REALLY close to the couch. It will seem like I am at E's house watching his projector! I am sure that I will not have the stereo set up for at least a week or so. We need to have an electrician come in and do some wiring for us. There was no place in the living room for our equipment, so we need him to run some conduit through the walls to hook up the tv.

E said he would come by tommorrow and assess the damage, ie, see how small our place is.

I don't know where we are going to put all of our stuff. I didn't know we had so much.

Jeff

Good morning all,

Bit of a moan to start the day. The price of petrol at the moment is about 6.50$ a gallon, not nice. On a positive side, spring has sprung, so to speak. The snow has pretty much melted and the sun is shining so things could always be worse!

Re: SOBB - Volume One

Good Morning to you... what time is in in Finland anyway?

Gas prices are hitting us pretty hard here in the U.S. right now. We're paying about $2.85 a gallon here in my area. About a year ago it was $1.40 or so... maybe a little over a year ago... can't remember exactly. It's about double now and for us that is high after it ran from $1 - $1.40 for so long. I guess we have always been forntunate compared to the rest of the world.

Hmmm... watching David Gilmore sing on the Tonight Show (recorded earlier today). New song from his tour I suppose.

The time is now 10:17 AM. It gets a bit strange when people are spread out all over the world, never really know when to say good morning or good evening!

That's so true... so when our day is winding down, yours is just getting cranked off good. That does seem strange. 8 hours ahead of me... so it would be about 4:18pm your time right now.

I just got to the office and am having my first cup of coffee here at 8:18 am.

Re: SOBB - Volume One

It's 8:27 in the morning here. Gas is averaging 2.93 a gallon in my area right now. I wouldn't mind living in Venezela right now, it's only $.12 a gallon there right now!

We totally got moved out of our house yesterday. Got the last few yard items out. Man, was that a tough move. Got a chance to relax yesterday. My oldest son, who is 11, had his first baseball game of the season yesterday. He got to start as pitcher. He has never done that before. He did really good. He only hit one batter! He walked the first two players, but then calmed down and ended up striking out 12 batters! I was so proud of him. He really did a good job.

It was so nice to do something else than moving last night! I look forward to unpacking and getting back into the grove of life.

I still won't have my home theater hooked up until next weekend, but at least the tv is now hooked up!

Jeff

Re: SOBB - Volume One

I don't think I will have my almost usual cup of coffee this morning. I think I will get a Jamba Juice. If you are not familiar with this chain of stores, they serve fruit smoothies and you can get extra vitimans and an all natural engery boost in them. That is what I usually get.

Well, off to my meeting...

Jeff

Re: SOBB - Volume One

Yeah, work in a restaurant so normally get off at around midnight or a bit later, today was an early day and so left at 10:30 pm, free day tomorrow as well, hence the beverage

I don't think I knew you worked in a restaurant. What do you do? Are you a chef? I love to cook myself. Of course I've done my share of other things in a restaurant before. Back in the early 80's I managed a bar/restaurant... working mostly on the bar side.

Re: SOBB - Volume One

I work as a chef in a texmex restaurant, probably the busiest place in town! Did a bit of work in Holland in a kitchen, also worked as a barman while in Holland.

Sounds like fun! Too bad you're not local so I can have a taste. I'm assuming it's Mexican. We eat at our little Mexican restaurant at least once a week.

Re: SOBB - Volume One

Pretty much 'finger food', ribs, chicken wings, various platters etc. Very popular place and good fun to work in (most of the time). Been toying with the idea of opening up my own palce at some stage but it is pretty risky business at the moment and with loads of competition

Re: SOBB - Volume One

Oh okay... not the same as TexMex's over here then.

Nothing like owning your own biz... there are always risk. I've started 3 new businesses from scratch. Sold two of them... one for a small profit and another for some pretty good change. The last one I'm at... been here for 8 years and hope to be here until I officially retire. Feel like I'm semi-retarded... I mean retired now. (Okay... both are true!)

Re: SOBB - Volume One

Reckon 'Finnish' TexMex is probably quite a bit different from that in the States.

This seems to be the 'Sonnie and Fincave' chatroom at the moment!

Re: SOBB - Volume One

I have been to "TexMex" in Califonia, and it definetely was not 'Mexican' food like a Mexican food resturaunte.

Owning a resturaunte would be REALLY long hours and quite a bit of responsibility. I do not know if I could do something like that.

I am self employed, but I only have to look after myself and not a lot of other people.

Re: SOBB - Volume One

I work pretty long hours anyway, probably about 50 hours a week going up to 80 during the summer, maybe more if I do some other odd shifts in other places. Granted my hours would probably increase but it could be fun working for myself. Have thought of opening a bar as well but food is what does it for me!
