Not sure if you have read this, should help you using the map.

Completely OT, am currently listening to some Indian commentary of the cricket, Australia seem to be off to a cracker though it is very very early days yet.

Morning guys, wow I’m shattered that antidepressant tablet really kicked in yesterday!

trying to get my head around this whole matter of the Google map. By the way mate, the link doesn’t work, page not found!

it can’t be no more than a three or four step process, I know how to navigate the settings moving it over different continents. Once you have found the location down to within a hundred feet, “click” the mouse and the “icon” indicates where about you are on the Google map!

But you have to input some data in the boxes, not sure if its name of the street or town, as well as a picture of the street?

If this response sounds a little strange that would be the antidepressant tablet side effects, wow I feel drossy!

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Good morning! Not sure what I did with the link! Anyway here is the text from that post:

To insert a marker you must be logged in.
If you are logged in a "your entry" button will appear next to the show map button.
To insert your marker you have to click the "your entry" button. That will load a smaller version of the map.
To insert your location a you must enter the latitude and longitude by dragging and zooming the map to get a closer view of your location. If you keep zooming you will eventually see your street name if Google has the streets for your area loaded. TIP: Double clicking will center the map on that exact spot.
After centering the text field must be filled in (the maximum number of characters is 50.
Confirmation is done by clicking the Insert your information page.
After the initial insert the “Your Entry” button will change function automatically and will allow you to get the direct link information and allow you to update your location.
The information is automatically filled in for HTML, BBCODE and URL.
The same page also functions as your personal update page once you have entered the data. This includes a delete function to remove your data and marker. A RED marker will show the previous location you entered.
If the information is changed by using the map the links will automatically change, but the data change MUST be confirmed in the database by clicking the update button.

Enjoy!

The map may be too wide for some viewers if you have your screen resolution set too low. We may end up making it smaller.

If you are experiencing problems, simply post here and describe your problem. I'll check into it asap.

Sample of what the default map size looks like:

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Several things have changed just recently due to some issues we are having. All add-ons (including Googlemap) had to be disabled temporarily. All links revert back to the standard forum style links of the old days for temporary too. So if you copied one before the change was made, it won't work for now. It will be a little strange for a few days until we get it worked out.

Yes it did seem a bit weird to me as well!! Am presuming that the maintenance and changes being made are what are affecting the displaying of time/date ?

Yes, I had to disable all the plugins/add-ons/mods/etc. We couldn't get support with all those installed. One of them is the date/time mod. I can't remember what it's supposed to do though. Is it fixed now?

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

I was sound asleep at 7:05am this morning...

Hobbies? Hangin' out at the Shack! But that's still HT related isn't it.

Besides HT, I like to fish, but I don't get to much. No serious hobbies really. I'm do spend way too much time on the Internet.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Evening all! Just got back from work and am starving, got to eat something soon.

Sonnie: The time date seems to be working again!

Hobbies: Do not know if you can really call cooking and eating a hobby? I cook for a living but really do enjoy cooking on my free days as well. Red wine may not be a hobby either but is still a great way to pass the time. Used to read masses but now seem to surf the net too much! Travelling is great though I do not have the time to travel as much as I would like to. Music is something that I am nuts about, cannot play anything but can literally spend hours at a time just listening to pretty varied music. Follow some sports quite closely, cricket, rugby, football, Formula 1.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

I think I fall in the "too many" hobbies section:
  1. Fishing -- fly fishing that is. I'm good enough that I wouldn't starve if stranded in the woods.
  2. Painting -- Oils only. Haven't been able to do this for a long while. I hope I'll find a spot to set up soon. Lousy, but enjoy the process.
  3. Music -- duh, I'm here right?
  4. Movies -- No better escape than a movie for me
  5. Games -- poker, board, computer, video, etc.. like em all
  6. DIY -- new one for me. Started with the speaker project. Also working on some DIY headphone amps
  7. Cooking -- no training, but I'm at least decent. Will BBQ anything.
  8. Reading -- still get a chance to do this every once in a while. Still haven't outgrown my sci fi/fantasy preference, but have been known to pick up a history book every once in a while
  9. Beer -- I'm WAY overdue to make my next batch.
  10. RC Airplane -- done it a couple of times and got one for my bday. Haven't had the courage to take it out yet. I need to find someone to lend a hand for a hour or so until I get the hang of it.
  11. Travel -- will never get to do as much as I'd like, but I've always liked go some place new.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Okay..... I see now.

I like cooking, not sure if it's actually a hobbie though.
Movies is really HT.
DIY when I'm not lazy... I'm usually too lazy.

I'd like two things... trains and rc airplanes seem like they would be fun. My cousin had his rc airplane at our family gathering a couple of years ago... that was cool. For the train I need an entire dedicated room like the HT room.

Am having problems accessing the site, have it bookmarked but using the bookmark I get the a message to the effect of 'We are currently in the process of moving our forums to a new dedicated server.

If you are seeing this message it means your ISP has not resolved the new IP address. It should resolve soon and you will then be able to see the forums again.

We apologize for any inconvenience.'

If I follow a email notification link from a response to a thread that I am subscribed to then I can access the site.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

You are accessing it via the IP address I suppose... like me. If I use www.hometheatershack.com I still get the old forum that is closed. Generally our ISP resolves quicker than this, I'm not sure what's going on. I know brucek said his was fine, he was seeing everything fine now and not having to use the IP address. Maybe it won't be too much longer and we'll all be good to go.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

I had to call Centurytel and get them to update their DNS cache. I'm not sure how they have it set to update, but it has never taken as long as it did today. It took a while to get them to do it, but they finally did.

Yes... everything does seem to be getting back to normal now. Thankfully!
