Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

We had beautiful warm weather a week or two ago. Right after that it snowed hard, and we've had a cold spell. Just to kill off all the new plants, I'm sure.

Hello everyone, hows life been in those faraway places you all seem to live? Life seems to be fairly average for me at the moment, however I have just gone out for some reatail therapy and purchased new projector .

Howdy doc... good to hear from you again. Sounds like some good therapy to me. So what pj did you snag?

Good to see you here DRF! Some bright spark devised daylight saving time which just means that in the early hours of Sunday morning we have to set all clocks one hour forward, thus losing one hour of precious sleep, always irritates me slightly as not all clocks automagically set themselves.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Yes we suffer daylight savings here in Aus too, can be a pain when you forget about it and then you are late for work .

Got me a benQ mp620c, it is a native 4:3 1024x768 DLP. Fully digital everything and so far is quite good. I seem to have a problem with Rainbow effect on some movies, for some reason it's never on the animated movies like cars, a sharks tail, nemo, monsters inc. etc. This leads me to think that the rainbow effect is a function of contrast more than colour. I have noticed if I drop thecontrast the effect is less. Is there anyone out there that knows exactely what causes this effect?

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Good morning...

We set our clocks ahead a couple of weeks ago. I hope we are phasing it out.

I have always owned LCD projectors and have never seen any RBE on the few DLP pj's I have seen. I do not know exactly what causes it, but it seems like it has something to do with the color wheel not keeping up with the motion.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

I'll go into a lengthy post about what cause the rainbow effect later. We've just got 8 8-year old girls out of the house after a birthday party, so we're trying to calm the kids back down, currently.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Hi drf, good to see you here. I'm fairly new to projectors myself, and wanting to understand the same thing about rainbow effect. There is a thread about this here.

http://www.hometheatershack.com/foru...onstrated.html

Hopefully " Maverick" (atledreier) can elaborate on this a little more.

We're all in this together!
