Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Hope all had a great Christmas and a safe upcoming New Years.

Santa was nice this year -- he brought me all kinds of speaker building toys.
  • Behringer ECM8000
  • M-Audio MobilePre external soundcard
  • Jasper Jig combo set

Just gonna have to build my next set soon I think.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Good morning all. I trust that everyone had a good Christmas?

Drf: really good to hear about the weather you people are having, hope the weather lasts!

JCD: you must have behaved well seeing as though Father Christmas/Santa decided to bring you great toys .

I must say that I do enjoy Christmas, the best thing is probably getting to spend some time with the important people and the food, seem to always eat really well at this time of the year. Unfortunately only had two days off this year as we are having staff problems at work for a change. Thankfully my long awaited holiday starts soon, am off to South-Africa (home) for four full weeks starting 4 Jan, can hardly wait.

Good Morning!

X-mas has come and gone... no AV toys for me this year. Maybe next year. We did have some good family visits though.

The actual answer is the wife was too busy so she just asked me to pick a couple of things.

So I did..

Actually, she came home one day in early November and said "I bought your Christmas present to me". A neckace and ring she saw and an Art fair.

I also bought her a book by James Patterson she wanted. I'm such a romantic.

G'day all,

Just a post to gloat about having 4 weeks off.

Spent the better half of today in the workshop working on my prototype active Xover and P3A amp enclosure. also been designing 2x stereo 20watt gainclones but need to refine the circuit a bit before i can build some test circuits.

Good morning all!

Drf: Hope you really enjoy your time off, sounds like you have enough to keep yourself occupied.

I am pretty shattered, spending too much time at work and we are way too busy as well, also trying to sort out a few things before going on holiday. Oh well, two more days and then I can relax for a few weeks.

I've actually been wondering why we have all these holidays bunched up together. I did not want to come back to work today.

Been kinda hectic here.... trying to convert our accounting systems from Peachtree to Quickbooks.... then get it working with our finance software.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Morning all! Coffee sure does taste great first thing in the morning, part of my staple diet I suppose.

How is the weather in Oz, are they getting the fires under control yet? Tropical Finland is having weird weather at the moment, this time last year the temp was about -25C (-13F), at the moment it is about +1C (34F), guessing it must be global warming or something. No snow about in the southern part of Finland either which is most odd for this time of year.

Holiday starts tomorrow, four weeks of sunshine (hopefully). Not sure of how much internet access I will have so may not be able to jabber away here.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

fires are still outof control, About well over 750,000 hectares now, fire front is also over 850 Km long.
temps are getting to 32C at the moment and we are getting thunderstorms through so there are little fires starting.
heres a link to the most current map:
http://www.dse.vic.gov.au/CA256F3100...70102_1700.pdf

just to the right of where it says coopers creek is a little town called heyfield (directly under lake glenmaggie) that is where I went to stay over Xmas. during that time the visibility due to smokehaze was down to less than a Km.

heres a photo I had taken while driving through the area.

Name: fires.jpg
Views: 31
Size: 40.4 KB

that patch of burnt area spreads right across the road and back up into the large mass of burnt area on the map.

The predictions is that this fire will keep burning until at least spring (late July/early august)

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

That is some serious burning going on there. Amazing that there is no way to get it under control and stopped.

Still crazy days for me at work... software issues continue, but hopefully they'll be winding down soon.

Gotta hate software trouble, must be costing you (or your company) a fortune in down time, not to mention the frustration.

Hope it all comes good for you soon.

Ahhh... it really doesn't cost us... other than I get aggravated with it. It gets into my play time more than anything else.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

ooh... it is that time of the year isn't it.

This is our more relaxed time of the year, or so it's supposed to be... now that I've got the software problems finally straightened out. I do have a little bit of a backlog piled up on me that I'll have to siphon through next week.

It's been a lazy day for me. I watched Wyatt Earp this afternoon. It's been a while since I've seen it and it was good, although a little on the lengthy side.

Watching the Cowboys vs the Seahawks right now. Dallas just gave up a safety and the hawks scored to go ahead by 1. The boys have one last chance in the last drive with about 3 minutes left. Should be interesting as they only need a field goal.

EDIT: Next play Jones takes it to the eleven. ... two minute warning.

Roma muffs the 19 yard field goal hold and the hawks win. He almost made the first down... actually almost a touchdown, but no such luck.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Evening all! Finally on holiday and am in South-Africa, nice to relax for a change and see family. Slightly unusual to go from northern hemisphere winter to southern hemisphere summer, definitely not complaining though.

nice in the southern hemisphere isn't it? Hope you enjoy your time off. Try not to get hit by runnaway impalas or gazelles.

Isn't that funny, a thread where you can post what ever you want, but no body can think of anything to post. Where as in another thread with a specific topic and nearly everyone has an off topic post to post.

Er...um..er.. 24 pages of posts doesn't exactly add up to "nothing to say".

Denmark seems to have just avoided the latest near-100mph storm which lashed the UK and then moved onto the continent. Three storms in less than three weeks still seems like too much of a good thing. Where do I queue for the non global warming seats? We are all going to look incredibly foolish if this flip-flops into an ice age!

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

100mph storm... is that why you want the anemometer?

Hey new meat in the SWAMP! Welcome rain! Now you've started you can't stop.

We all should be able to post at least one post per day here. Gee, isn't there something we can say.... even if it's nothing but hello, good morning, etc?

Something we did in another similar type thread was whoever got the flip to the next page had to post a picture/image of something. So the first post of each page had an image. We could always make it a challenge to get the flip.
