I'm guess all I can say is that I'm going to have to turn the VALVE and take a cool shower tonight -- it's HOT!

Oh, here's my pic -- my couch legs bleed stain if you spill water on the floor... Anyone think this is normal?

I think this new game is bit of a rivet that will help hold the swamp together and make it what it is.

EDIT: Otto, you got the flip, I wanna see a pic.

It might even be a route to knowledge.

I think we'll probably end up having to WEAVE a few letters around all along.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

How about an added twist. A little friendly challenge. We each choose a word that has none of the letters in the current word and try to work the words to that word. Anyone want to try to ride that HORSE?

Hey Otto... I think we are SHORT a flip pic...
Did I? Looks like a couple said I did, but it didn't show up on my end that way...

Anyway, I don't want to get beaten by a HORDE, so I'll do it anyway. Leonard, I'm in for whatever, but not sure I follow the rules. You said choose a word that has NONE of the letters from the previous word, but you went from SHORT to HORSE? Please tell me more!

You skipped me... poo-nanny!

What do mean "it didn't show up on my end that way..."??? You mean it showed up as the last post on the page instead of the first. It will until you leave the thread and come back. That's why you have to watch for every 26th post. Notice yours is #1276... the next will be #1301... and so forth.

And yes... same here with the carpet stains from the furniture. It has happened to us on several occasions.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

I have never seen stains like that before!! Must be the timber you have over there????

Now thats a challenge that might fry my brain. Will we need someone to adjudicate the game or would we play an open hand (so to speak) so we all know what each others word is?

Is erode a word?

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Oops, sorry for skipping you, Sonnie. Unfortunately, I'm not BORED enough to go back and fix it!

The bleeding couch leg thing is pretty lame, IMO. I think they should seal those well. I have three or four of those marks, and the one above is not the worst one. I guess I will have to do that myself before getting new carpet -- I don't need any of those marks on new carpet.

As to the flip, I'm post 1286 which is somewhere in the middle of page 26; there are two posts after mine... Are you guys trying to mess with me? (Not advised )

I could ORDER you to, but then that would not be nice and you still probably wouldn't do it. But I fixed it for you last night...

Your flip post was #1276...

I think "erode" is a word... like we are eroding...

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

I think I've got it all figured out now, and I don't need any more re-dos. I'm set to show 50 posts per page, so I have keep track of the post number itself (although the 1276, 1301, etc. part made sense to me all the way along).

HAND.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

What I meant was to continue as we have been, but each person chooses a target word to gradually move the words towards. The first one to get the word to be their target word is the winner. Everyone else will be trying to move the words to their targets and away from everyone else's. For instance I am changing SOBER to PROSE this time, but I pick my target word to be, say, TALLY. Next time I will try to make a change to get some one of the letters in my target into the word...everyone else would try to get to theri target by try to avoid letting others get to theirs. So now I change the word from PROSE to SPARE.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

I don't see why not, but once is enough for me. My brain needs this kind of workout every now and then but two changes might use up what capacity is left. Anyway, lets just SPRAY some words out here. See, now I have got two letters from my target word in the mix.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Kind of a non-sequitur, but I recently bought the latest CD from TV on The Radio, Return to Cookie Mountain. Definitely the best new stuff I've heard in a long time -- a big reason probably because I don't know anyone else that sounds like them (I'm always looking for something new).

Has anyone listened to them? If so, is there someone else you think would be similar to them?

Oh, and today is the first day back from vacation -- sigh.
Not only that, but there will soon be a "surprise" PARTY for an upcoming milestone b-day.

I've never heard of that group... of course I haven't listened to anything new in I can't tell ya when.

My body PARTS are already older than yours so I don't wanna be reminded of my b-day.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

I have one coming up this w/e as well, but not in the numbers that our old hillbilly might be more familiar with. Looking forward to a cake with some gooey, PASTY, german chocolate icing.

I'll have to try that CD. I have not had anything new ina while either. Just can't seem to get into any of the popular stuff these days. My favorite bumper sticker is the one that says "I'm not old, your music really does suck." I try to like new stuff, but most of the rock just doesn't hold up to stuff that we rode. Most of the interesting stuff seems to be off the beaten path, so to speak.

Oh I'm bleeding now... that was a NASTY low blow to the bone.... oh yeah... I'm familiar with some of those years a few of you may not be.

20 years from now, this music that's playing today will not be properly classified as "classic rock"... there's just no way. I think once we hit the 90's, it started going downhill. The only thing that kept me going in the 90's and on up to now is all the regroups such as Pink Floyd, Roger Waters, Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, Frampton, and a few others.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Morning all!! Still alive and working like mad, soon to be on holiday though so something to look forward to. Trying to think of a witty way to iclude the word STAIN into this post but my brain is failing me!!

I agree with peoples views on new music, not very much grabs me nowadays, it all seems to be massed produced rubbish that will not stand the test of time. Thankfully there is still some stuff coming out every now and again that has some merit, bands like Kings of Leon, The White Stripes, and Nick Cave's new band Grinderman, the latter being very different to The Bad Seeds stuff, a lot heavier and without the trademark piano playing. Something else that I have listened to quite a lot of late is Rodrigo Y Gabriela, acoustic guitar that sounds really amazing. Another person to look out for would be Arno, not new by any means but am sure that he is pretty much unheard of in the US, nobody in Finland has heard of him and he seems to only be really big in his native Belgium and France, quite popular in Holland as well. Definitely worth checking out as he sings with amazing passion and feeling, mostly his own stuff but a few covers thrown in as well, here are links to some of his stuff Mother's little Helper and Les Yeux de ma Mere.
