Alive and kickin' for the moment.

Here's a shot of the back of our house. We are seriously considering filling in the pool and making a small garden pond of sorts with maybe a fountain or some sort of waterfall.

This is a rather older shot... probably 4-5 years ago. The trees are much bigger now. Actually the one tree to the left there is gone... wind got it. That palm tree to the left of the windows is taller than the eave of the house.

Aren't those clouds nice? I think that would have to be the one thing the whole world has in common, clouds. No matter were you go they always look the same. Except for the sun and the moon, which probably looks the same from all around the world too.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Morning all! Hope everyone is well and looking forward to the rugby on Saturday? Winter is starting to make an appearance here, had our first snow last Thursday evening but it basically all melted straight away and the temp is now above zero again. Need to switch to studded winter tyres soon on the car, somehow always leave it to the last minute, maybe this year will be different?

Am a bit surprised by the lack of voting in the photo competition, only eleven votes in about five days, maybe Sonnie could/should steer the mods in that direction?

It would help if I could actually see the entries. I can only see the train, a sunset and a dragonfly. The rest are just a series of headings above short spaces.

Sounds like you need to get your computer fixed Chrisbee...

I posted an announcement for those who may see it today... also asked all the mods to please vote as well. Maybe we'll get several more votes today.

You know... I was scrolling through the posts here in the SWAMP and thought I saw the largest Rubik's Cube ever...

I wonder how long it would take to solve that one?

How long does it take you to solve a regular one?

Come on, Sonnie! A man of your intelligence? They come with instructions, now-a-days. I bought one a month ago, and after a week I could do it in three minutes. I know you could too, give it a try!

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

I've never solved one, which is kind of funny considering I don't usually have problems solving most 3D puzzles/teasers. The closest I came was removing all the stickers.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

You only have to learn seven sequences.
Each one is only 4-8 twists.
Its really not hard, if you follow instructions.

Some people call that cheating.
I ask them if they've solved it without the instructions...
I'm an engineer, I call following directions smart.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

I've never seen any instructions. It's always one of those that someone already owns and they toss it to you... "bet ya can't do it" challenge. I don't think I've ever solved one myself.

25 years ago (?) when they were first popular my son could solve it in what seemed like seconds. He said there was a method.

If I remember correctly, my brother was good with these... he was about 10 around the time they surfaced.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

O.K even after looking up the solution on the net it would appear to still confuse me

I think there must be some kind of conspiracy going on here!!! I mean; who would disguise what is quite obviously a meat dryer as a subwoofer as a Rubiks cube? Answer: Some one who wanted to rub it in that even with instructions the RC is still very hard. And probably the government becuase they are always behind every conspiracy theory.

Can I have some of what you're using , Man?

I have no idea what the guy with the Rubik cube was using but I want some of that as well!

What am I saying? I don't even take aspirin.

Sure, just stress yourself out with work, deprive yourself of sleep. Then late in the afternoon your brain will start mass producing serotonin as a means of survival. Long live abstract happiness
