Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Greetings all!

I seem to be spending a fair amount of time at work! I have all of one day off this week but should have the weekend off. Need to change to winter tyres, have not done it yet as the temp has been above zero but is should start getting colder by the end of the week and I really do not fancy driving on ice with regular tyres, it is more than exciting enough with the studded tyres!

Some nice meat dryers being built, I think the last one though may actually need some refining as it looks as though it would dry the meat too quickly.

Edit: Naughty me, I forgot to add a pic when I had the flip, have now attached a bad pic of the tattoo I had done a week ago, sorry that it is not a funny pic.

It's amazing that he could even get to that area of the bridge... and then not falling.

It's more than I can bear to watch. boom boom!

Sorry

Yes, I read somewhere that the usa has the most public holidays, but isn't that because there are only a handful of national holdiays (e.g independents day) and the rest are state dependant, meaning there could only be 10 or 12 holidays across the nation on average but over 52 different ones?

Australia only has 13 (i think) public holidays. we basically get one a month. Plus most companies have RDO's once a month so about every second month I get a 4day weekend .

O.k 24 hours went by since my last post. Where did they go? I should have tried to stop them but I haven't quite worked out what it would take to stop a unit of time

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

And when you do figure it out... please keep your buddy in mind... $$$.

I believe our national holidays are as follows:

News Years Day (1/1)
Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday (in February)
Memorial Day (last Monday in May)
Independence Day (4th of July)
Labor Day (first Monday in September)
Veteran's Day (in November)
Thanksgiving (in November)
Christmas (12/25)

I may be missing one or two.

I've been studying up on Martin Logan's. I've always wanted some and I finally pulled the trigger on some used ones today. Not sure exactly what I'm getting myself into.

It was indeed.

I have only ever heard rave reviews about ML's. I am never sure wether to believe them or not as most audiophools tend to color their reviews much like a used cars salesmen does. I went auditioning a little while back, believe it or not the best sounding of the lot were Jenson. I can only assume they were better suited to the room I was in.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

So where has everyone gone? I post my flip pic and now everyone has just disappeared, surely it is not that shocking!?

Had the weekend off which was reallly nice for a change, still off today as well though there are a million things to do. Planning a trip to Lapland in January as my brother is coming to Finland and my other half has informed me that I need to buy warmer clothes. I hate going shopping for clothes

Nah. We're all men of the AV world here.

Now let's get this right. Your brother is visiting Finland so you are going to Lapland?
Don't you like your brother?

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

I suppose I could have had the THX logo done as a tattoo, have seen some on the web where people have all sorts of strange things done, Apple logo, PS3 controller, game characters etc.

It was actually my brother's idea to go to Lapland, I did try and tell him that Lapland in January can be very cold, -30C or even -40C if one is very unlucky. Oh well, coming from South-Africa i suppose the cold will not be a problem .

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Morning! Sounds like you had a good plan, spending some time with the wife and without the kids, hope you had a really good time!

My ink does actually have a meaning as well as looking good. It is an African symbol and the proper name is FUNTUNFUNEFU- DENKYEMFUNEFU which appears to be quite a mouthful, actually have no idea as to how it is supposed to be pronounced. In English it is called 'Siamese crocodiles' and is a symbol of democracy and unity, 'The Siamese crocodiles share one stomach, yet they fight over food. This popular symbol is a remind that infighting and tribalism is harmful to all who engage in it..

Welp... getting ready for a long "4 day" weekend of laziness. Somebody had to do it!

Taking off tomorrow and then we have a National holiday on Monday, Veterans Day.

And then there are those that have to work...

Did I mention to you guys that I'm revamping my entire HT setup...

Anthem AVM-50
Anthem MCA-50
Martin Logan Ascent i (mains)
Martin Logan Motif (center)
SVSound PC-Ultra (a pair of them)

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

nice, I just had a 4 day weekend. As it turns out when you get to the 4th day you realise that 4 days isn't long enough.

Hope the new theatre sounds awesome!!

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Four day weekend, what is that? I cannot remember the last time I had one of those, to get four days off I need to be on holiday! Oh well, such is life.

Did notice that Sonnie is buying new toys again, am curious to know what the ML speakers sound like, have heard good things about them. Scared to audition them myself because I know if I really like them I would have to start saving up to buy some, thankfully I do not think there is a retailer anywhere near me.

Good Morning! ... It's Friday!

Audiogon is your friend when it comes to Martin Logan. No way I could afford them new... but at over 50% off they are reachable on their mid-line models. No doubt they are sweet... don't listen to them unless you are ready to buy.

Love the crocodile/aligator thing, now I'm looking for a larger pic of it to put up at work. I am sick of my team infighting when they should be looking at the bigger picture.

Morning everyone!! Coffee must be the best thing since sliced bread, there really isn't anything to beat a cup of hot coffee first thing in the morning.

DRF: infighting at work? It does sound very familiar, we seem to be very firmly split into two camps at work though of late people seem to be getting on better, maybe three years of bickering is enough for some people. As to the siamese crocodiles, here is a link to where I found the tattoo, unfortunately all their images are rather small and they do not enlarge very well.
