Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Here (in Norway) we can choose if we want 52 weeks leave and 80% salary for the duration, or 42 weeks and 100% salary. The first 6 weeks is reserved for the mother, nad the father is required 6 weeks somethime during the 3 years following the birth. Other than that you are pretty much free to choose when to take the leave and how to organize it, as long as you use all of it withing three years. So you can do all in one go (most do this), or you could have every friday off for three years if you wish... We do what's best for the baby, so mom is home in a stretch until my 6 weeks at the end of the 42 weeks total. Worked very well for the first two, anyway.

Since my center speaker arrived today I'll post a pic of that. Oh, and a related quiz: What kind of speaker is this?

A keynote speaker? a speaker on global economics?

I'm amazed noone commented on the state of my car, though. Btw, I washed it today. Turns out it was metallic grey under the dirt.

Here's a pic from the unpacking process....

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

They certainly look awesome, Do Dali have entry level stuff as well as the more high end gear?

I only ask because I heard a pair on display here in Aus, but they incredibly shocking FR across the horizontal plane. This pair was significantly larger than what you have.

They do a full range of stuff, from real cheap stuff to the higher-ens like my Euphonias. Give them a visit: www.dali.dk

On a different note, the kids decided they wanted to go for a swim today, in the ocean! I'm in Norway, btw, and the temperature was 4C below freezing!

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Sweet DALIs! I love my IKONs.

Euphonias=$$$$$ here in the States. Are they cheaper there?

I think the IKONs are a no-frills version of the high-end models in the DALI line. Cheap cabinets, etc, but similar drivers.

The IKON sound defies their price ($1750 USD MSRP) The lower end stuff does not.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

I reckon the Swamp is still alive, barely. Am currently running my laptop with Ubuntu, removed XP completely though I may well have to go back. So far things seem to work ok, no crashes and all devices have so far worked, it did however take four hours to get the wireless internet to work at my girlfriend's place and the browser is very slow. I will still see if I can get things to speed up, if I can then there may be no need to go back.

Does fedex deliver on saturdays? I've been getting the runaround on my HD70 and now they tell me it is to be delivered to my house tomorrow. Curious, I have my suspicions, I suspect I should refrain from getting my hopes up until I see the optoma name across the box being carried to my doorstep.

Onkyo 805 | Denon DVD-1920 | Sony 400 disc | Definitive Technology ProTower 400s | ProCenter 100 and PCC2 | BP2x | ProMonitor 100s | Klipsch RSW-10 subwoofer| Otoma HD70 | Play Station 3 | Toshiba HD-A3

Sounds like you've had a very good start with linux, stick with it; if the average linux user is anything to go by you won't regret the change.

I may well stick with it, busy browsing forums to see if I can get Opera or Firefox to work quicker, have also tried Epiphany but none are as quick as the Windows version of Opera! I feel like I am behind a dial-up modem and I am going slowly mad.
