Musically very similar to Pogues/Popes, have not really paid much attention to the lyrics yet but the music is good. I may well have to order some more of their stuff. Let me know what you think of the Pogues stuff if you happen to order something.

Phew! Glad you liked it. I like all of their albums (3 studio albums so far). If I had to pick one, I might pick their latest, Within a Mile of Home. For sure, Factory Girls is my favorite song right now, with Sentimental Johnny probably being second -- neither really sounds like each other though.

Anyway, glad you liked the album.

I haven't had a chance to pick up the Pogues yet.. but probably will this week.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Ok, here is my contribution for this afternoon-

A lady is outside of her house doing yard work and sees her blonde neighbor almost jumping for joy, really estatic. Being a good neighbor she goes over to her friend and finds that she too is really getting excited for her neighbor but has no idea why. So she asks her blonde neighbor. Why are you so happy?!

The blonde neighbor says that she just found out she was pregnant! The friend says that is a great reason for us to be so happy!!!

The blonde neighbor then says, that is only one part of why I am so happy! The really fantastic thing about me being pregnant is that I am having twins!!!!

That is unbelievable said the friend! How is it that you found out so quickly that you were having twins?

The blonde neighbor then tells her that the twinpack pregnancy test she bought from Wal-Mart said confirmed the results, I took both tests and they both came back positive!!!

I would post a joke but I don't have any clean ones....

...

No, no clean ones, but if you guys want to laugh about something I actually fell off my chair the other day here at my office. I was leaning back talking to someone on the phone and I felt the wheels on my chair move forward and I tried to grab my desk but couldn't. The two worse parts about it were that I actually made a very high pitched "eek," as I fell and I very ungracefully bounced on my rear when I landed. I then proceeded to sit there and laugh.

As I post more on here, all of you are going to figure out that I am a nut.

I think that in the 'rules' to join this forum, it states that you have to be a little on the crazy side to be here. So, you should feel right at home! I know I do...talking with all my imaginary 'friends' and all.

Evening all! I think that we are all probably a little nuts! I suppose it is just the way this hobby is, spend a lot on making your home environment comfortable and pleasing to oneself in regard to sound and picture, and then spend HOURS online talking to basically strangers about it when we could be listening to or watching something

My vision for this forum was to somewhat follow my momma's long time advice... "Sonnie... always surround yourself with nuts, that way you'll look smart." Well momma... it didn't work. I am now an official nut myself.

Hey... we are all AV nuts at the HT Shack!

We gotta change that standard member name from "Shackster" to "Nutster"!

... we could have named the forum the "Home Theater Nut Hut".

heeheehee

Yup... I am truly a nut!

Yep, I've told my wift and HT buddies here that I think I actually prefer to talk, read and research about it, more than actually using it. Sad.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Is the Swamp becoming waterlogged? Does not seem to be very much happeing here recently! What is every one up to? I seem to be spending most of my waking hours at work at the moment, have a run of 17 days of work with one free day inbetween, thankfully will have a whole week off at Midsummer's.

Well I keep lookin' for someone to chat with but can't seem to get any regulars. I think it will come with time though. Hey... we are 8 pages deep already. That's a little more than a page per week. Still very slow though.

I've been wrapped from 50-11 angles the past few weeks myself. Doesn't seem like it's gonna slow down anytime soon.

But I'm trying...

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Well I kind of suppose that if one is fit and able to work one should do it, eventually the work will be done and the time to relax and enjoy the fruits of one's labour will come around, no idea when that will happen though, maybe in another thirty years time or so?

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

I need to check in here more often. Work has been really crazy lately and I need a vacation. It looks like we are going to take one here really soon.

We are going to take the kids when school gets out on the 15 and head to Yellowstone and get some tent camping in. I am really looking forward to it. No cell phone, no one complaining...I can't wait!

What are you guys going to do for your summer's?

Jeff

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Yeah... your post count should be at least 300 by now...

I'm working the summer away! heehee... It never ends.

Actually we will be checking in with our condo lady at the beach on Monday. If she has an available condo we may head that way. It's one of those deals where they rent from Saturday to Saturday and if they haven't rented it by Monday then usually you can get a super deal.

Last year we got a 3br 3bath wrap around balcony that normally rents for $3000+ per week during the times we go... and it only cost us $750. And the condos are just simply amazingly beautiful.

She had a 2br 2bath this past Monday for $700 but we couldn't swing it this week. Not sure if we can next week, but we may try.

Here's a pic of the condo area...

We are getting ready to head out on a vacation. An actual vacation!!!! We are going to DRIVE from Washington State to Nebraska, visit some family, head over to Mt Rushmore for a few days and then over to Yellowstone to see Yogi the Bear, and BooBoo too, for 6 nights. I am really looking forward to getting away for a couple of weeks!

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Good morning all! Making me jealous reading everyones plans for summer holidays etc. I will have next week off which will be great as have been spending too much time at work. My next proper holiday will however be in January, can hardly wait as I will be going 'home' (ie South-Africa) for four weeks!!!!!

Jeff: Hope you have a great time, sounds like a really nice trip, it would also be great to see some pics.

Sonnie: Looks very nice! There just is something great about seaside holidays.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Good morning Fincave!

Actually we are not going to get to go right now. Our daughter chose buying her a vehicle, adding XM Radio, new speakers, etc., etc., ... over going to the beach. In a way I'm kinda glad, but then in another way, I'm ready for a break and a rest for a few days. We may go to the mountains soon... or wait and go later on to the beach. Hey... South Africa sounds good to me!

Welp... 2am here... gotta hit the sack... in a few!

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

I'm currently at a conference in Austin, TX. As expected, it's hot... especially for a weather weenie like me (the SF Bay Area has the best climate in the world).

What I didn't expect was that the town itself is actually kind of nice. I expected to see big hair, big texas drawls, big egos, etc.. didn't get that. I also didn't expect 6th street. It's got one bar, restaurant, etc after another with live music playing in most of the bars. I've heard that the street is closed off Friday and Saturday nights ala Bourbon Street in New Orleans.

Speaking of New Orleans, I went to Gumbo's here in Austin.. they serve Cajun food. It was AWESOME. Way better than anything I had when I was actually in New Orleans. There was another restaurant I was supposed to try (Chez Nous) but didn't get a chance to try. Maybe the next time.
