Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

You watched WOTW at reference level. That film is like 105dB for 20 minutes straight not counting the 115dB peaks throughout. I think I was able to sit for about 30 seconds and watch it that loud. The rest of the time I had my ear protection on and I was trying to hold the SPL meter as still possible. Sorry about the picture. J/K sounds like it was pretty good. I was just thinking the same thing about it not being very active on the forum. Maybe they are all watching the olympics.

I love these games. But I have no idea what that is .

Is it a semi-helical hydro-reactive combining armature?

Nope thats not it. This one is kind of difficult but it was the first that came to mind. I will give a hint. The hint is Harry Potter.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

I'm pretty sure my house would have crumbled with that kind of mayhem. Your behemoth is pretty similar to my two tubes, I think. And you had the pair of ultras too! :O

Still, the 'Pulse' scene is even more intense, and it's LFE only, not all the other stuff, so you hear it and feel it more intensely. I'm pretty sure my house can't take more than what I have, and I'm completely sure my ears and guts couldn't take more. With that pulse rising in amplitude as the girl get closer and closer to the server, you're thinking 'this isn't good for my house'. Then she opens the door, and the pulse gets alot louder, and you're thinking 'this isn't good for my subs'. After a little while the pulse reach a crescendo, and what is already a very low frequency pulsing reach waaaaay down and end with a loud boom that is just insane, and you end up thining 'this isn't good for ME!' All in all a very thrilling minute of LFE mayhem. And the subs just take it in stride. I was impressed. WOTW seemed a little tame after that barrage of pulses.

getting what? I think I am close to getting a headache.

For the life of me I have no idea what that thing is. It looks like a roll of digital memory chips, althought the centre roll is missing. And the inside chips are a different shape to the ones on the outside.

I wish my system could peak above 100dB below 25Hz. As it currently sits I think I would be pushing my drivers hard just to get 95dB@20Hz. However I have only slapped them in while I am testing and re-arranging, so it is possible I will get better results after tuning and placement. I might even move them to the back of the room and build some form of LLT enclosure for them.

I got mine in tha back of the room, and it's by far the best placement I've found. Up front is better for ultra low extansion, but midbass and impact is much better in the back. I've obviously got enough low end anyway!

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Ok, I double post, but there's so little activity here these days...

I just came up from watching 'Serenity'. Ok, I thought the 'Pulse' and 'WotW' stuff was aweseome... Why 'Serenity' isn't at the top of that list I'll never understand. What an LFE fest that movie was. Of course the story was cheezy and all that, but the image and audio barrage. I'm actually tingling in my back right now, like after a massage. And this was at -10dB. My subs probably couldn't take it to reference here, and I KNOW my house would take damage if I did. It was just unbelievably loud, low and with insane impact. And some of the scenes where everything builds up to a crescendo, and then cut right off to complete silence.... *chills* I'm still amazed at the sheer output my subs can produce, but Serenity was asking for 10dB more. Not many people could stand that, I think, and not many systems either. It was great fun, though!

I'm always looking for a LFE workout but I've never heard of this "Pulse". Is that the name of the movie?

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

The movie is called 'Pulse', yes. I have the HD-DVD unrated edition. The movie itself is so-so, but there is some serious pulsing LFE in this.

This is a link to 'some other forum', where there is a little info about the scene. Beware the timestamps, they don't match for my unrated edition.

No, it's not very scary, Sonnie. It tries, but fails. There's a gorgeous chick in it, though.

So long as it has a gorgeous chick in it we are on a winner? If you want to sell a movie you can forget story line, special FX, riviting drama or skilled acting. Just put in a half decent chick and your set.

I have spent a few more hours trying to get the best out of my current subs, problem is i am going through a classic/drama phase where a lot of the flics I am watching have little LFE. Oh well, at least they will be better setup for when I decide to watch "days of thunder"

I haven't posted that much recently becasue I have been working on my car. It is due a major overhaul both asthetically and mechanically. I have just finished making some custom gauges for the dash and will move onto retrimming the rest of the interior soon.

Awesome ride! Love the blue carbon wheel and pedals, that match the exterior. I love touches like that!

What year? Engine? Mods?
