How's everyone in the SWAMP this day? It has been a week since we chatted here.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Nice, all I have to do now is make some informative posts in the qualifying forums. If I find the time between now and then. I should have some more graphs and experiments with the cheap subs I bought over the next couple of months. If I can find the time I might even build some different cabs to test them in.

I have been well this weekend even though the week held its fair share of turmoil. I managed to get hold of a decent pc and upgrade it, so I feel real good about that. Going to see a friend in hospital this afternoon, which will be a mixed emotion of joy and sadness, as we don't think she will survive much past Christmas.

Hope life is well with everyone else,

Cheers
Dr F

Well well well, I just noticed that our fearless leader has failed to put up a flip pic This will not do.

So Here is one I already had prepared just in case such a situation arose, can anyone guess how many of these things there are in an average human?

oops... I did miss it didn't I... so I'll stick something up there related to your image.

I have no clue how many we have... at least a couple.

Sorry to hear about your friend.

Those nuerons are basically braincells, right? So I'd say we have a few less every day...

I'll start counting mine right away!

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

I wonder, if these little things actually make up our brain, why we don't know intrinsically how many we actually have? I guess its like trying to know how many cells we have in our leg!

I counted mine... I came up with 27, give or take.... Of those 27, three are in a wheelchair, six are on vacation, five are arguing over who's the longest and four left for tea.

Apparently we lose them every day, So I am dedicating some time every day to look for mine.

I found some today but I think they were someone elses .

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Morning all! Everyone seems to be having fun counting brain cells, I think I will leave that to those who can count, I just cannot get passed one!

Went to test drive a new car yesterday, the new Skoda Superb. I really should not have done it as I now want one, fortunately or maybe unfortunately, I cannot afford a new car and so I will not be too terribly tempted. It really is a very nice car, very quiet compared to my car and very spacious. I am tall, 1.96m or 6''6' and even when I found a good driving position for myself I could still sit behind the driver's seat very comfortably with my knees a good 20cm from the seat in front. The car I drove was the 2.0 TDi and could only really tell it was a diesel when idling at traffic lights, well also with the amount of torque available. The best thing about the car was the DSG gearbox, an automatic six speed gearbox with basically seamless changes, also very responsive, changing down from sixth to third was very quick and the car pulls very nicely. It was fun!!

I have the same drivetrain in my VW Touran. It's awesome! Did you try the 140hp or the 170hp?

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Actually did not ask but am guessing it was the common rail diesel version, 170 hp, judging by how quick it felt compared to my standard (slow) 1.6 FSI Octavia, also pulling off from traffic lights we kind of left everyone behind very rapidly!! (Do not know would I ever buy a demo model as they definitely do get some stick)

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Well, with the economay doing what it is recently I don't think I will tempt fate by getting a new car. The last thing I need is to go into debt buying something I really can survive without. Having said that, it would be very nice to own a new car Maybe If I win the lotto.

Hope everyone is well?

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Hey guys. Brand new here on HT, some may recognize me from other forums, if not NBD.

I've built a couple pairs of speakers from scratch and one kit as well as a pair of subs, my biggest creation only being a dual 12 in 14sq ft, sealed with a BFD. I love good sound and I love being able to have a hand in it, money saving aside.

Looking forward to my dual 18 thread in the near future and some line arrays!

Take care, and I look forward to posting with 'all yalls'
-Alex

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Howdy there Alex and welcome to the Shack SWAMP...

We would love to see some of those build projects... keep us posted.

Uh... speaking of cars. I was at the Hyundai car dealership most of the morning getting my Sonata serviced and a couple of TSB issues resolved. Those new Genesis cars are just so fine... wow!

YouTube - 2009 Hyundai Genesis/ Quick Drive

But at $35-40K... I don't think so. We need the el inexpenso model and something that gets 35 miles to the gallon... can you say $14K ???

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

New cars are always nice, but I can't handle the depreciation. I'd easily lose $5000 just driving the thing out of the showroom. For me I will settle for second hand and DIY maintenance, that means I have more money for HT and Music.

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

as far as brand new cars go - I sold my avalon and bought a prestine white DC integra with black leather from a friend for $2500.. and my t100 yota is on hand to haul the bigger stuff around. Both are 1995, though in great shape. Unless I wreck one i don't see myself wanting a change. Of the 7-8 cars i've owned in various combinations, the 2600lb 35 mpg light car and big xtracab 4x4 truck together are my favorite. Whatever the battle may be, I get to pick my weapon :]

both are manual for that extra bit of power, mpg and less braking effort... no loans/payments... hard to say no for someone in my situation (college, 24 years old). One day I'll spoil myself with a brand new vette or something though :P

I haven't seen that flic, but I would bet for every fight someone has, they loose a couple thousand of these.

How is everyone doing? I think I am coming down with a cold or something. my throat hurts and I am very tired .

Re: The SWAMP! - Volume One

Wow, nice work Sonnie. I always wondered if you guys did anything about road noise when spending $'s on car audio. I have just recently installed an amp in the coon, Unfortunately I can hear engine noise and the sound is distorted at lower volumes. I think I will unplug the amp from the rear speakers and just us it to drive the sub.
