WOW! WOW! WOW!

5 top 10 teams lose today! Plus #11 and #13.

I really thought Oklahoma and Florida would be challenging for the championship game.

Of course the season isn't over yet... anything can still happen.

And Kentucky... yes Kentucky is going to be in the top 10... possibly South Florida.

So Tommy T had to rely on a freshman to get a field goal. I guess he is starting to value those "**** keekers" as he has called them in the past.

Just goes to show that you can never count a W before you play the game.

Re: College Football begins... your thoughts!

They had better be looking hard at making some improvements in the defense for next weekend. They won't be in the swamp and the speed, power, and talent of LSU will make Auburn look like practice. But then, it is the SEC, and Florida has often given LSU the kind of trouble that Auburn has given the gators. My money is on LSU by a couple of TDs, but I said the same about the Auburn game and was wrong.

Gotta pull for the Tigers, though. Too many hours spent on that campus...

Re: College Football begins... your thoughts!

Wow, what a crazy weekend.. 3 of the top 5 lose! in the same week! Woof, that's a biggie. And then 7, 10, 11, 13...

Looking at the AP top 3...
  1. LSU -- I'm a Pac-10 guy, but I gotta say, they're the team to beat
  2. USC -- A close call in Washington, but man, they have a lot of talent on the team
  3. Cal -- I don't know how to feel right now. I'm tingly all over. I just hope they continue on their roll.

A very amazed JCD

It would be great to see USC and LSU play in the championship, but they both have some tough games coming. Those two programs are both pretty deep with talent though.

WOW! What a crazy season this is turning out to be. USC beat by Stanfor at home! What an awesome game between LSU and UF! Auburn and Tennessee are putting it back together after stinking early. Spurrier is in the driver's seat in the SEC east. And USF...?

What another whacky Saturday indeed! Notre Dame finally won... :raped:

USF is looking promising... they may play LSU for the championship. But LSU still has to get by Auburn... which should be their last big challenge.

Ohio State could get a chance, who knows, but if Cal can get by USC and the rest of their rather challenging schedule... they will go to the championship. Cal is scoring a lot of points, but their defense is questionable.

Re: College Football begins... your thoughts!

I've been around SEC and LSU football long enough to not assume anything. Auburn always gives LSU trouble, as they do for Florida. Auburn is a well coached and strong program and they get better as the season progresses. Alabama will also be a tough game, as it always is, and there will be lots of motivation on both sides due to Saban.

I sure would feel bad for those poor guys from Ohio State if they had to face another great SEC team in the Championship. The psyche of the whole state might crack if they get another pounding...

Whacky isn't strong enough of a word for this season.. the last couple of weeks have been straight out cRaZY!

I really hope Cal can run the rest of the season. Their defense is actually better than I expected, and seems to be getting better. They did well to hold of a tough high powered Oregon team.

UCLA was a team that I thought we'd have to worry about.. not so much any more. What a schitzo team. Now i have to worry about ASU though.. and of course USC, despite their loss to Stanford.

I don't know how I'm going to keep it together - you should have seen me with that Oregon game. Any more stress like that, and I'm going to lose whatever hair I have left.

Re: College Football begins... your thoughts!

I'm not sure how much closer it gets to that Cal/Oregon game ending. If Bama was undefeated and any sort of top quality team, I'd be pulling my hair out too. Consider a last play win, an overtime loss, and another last play to save a win.

The season is long from over and there are a lot of good match-ups left, so it will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Re: College Football begins... your thoughts!

It doesn't seem like it's a good thing to be in the top 5 this year. We are beginning to accumulate a lot of one loss teams in the top 10, which with todays teams, doesn't surprise me. There are sure a lot of schools that we haven't heard from in years if ever that are really bringing some competition to the top 25. Amazing!

Good games for tomorrow:

#15 Florida at #7 Kentucky
#17 Auburn at #4 LSU

While I like to be optimistic, I have to be realistic as well. I worried it may get ugly when the Vols come to T-Town in Bama tomorrow.

As an LSU fan, I know not to underestimate the Tide, nor Saban.

The SEC is pretty wild. Some really great football being played this year.

Re: College Football begins... your thoughts!

Had someone told me we were going to beat the Vols today... I would have laughed at them.

I was extremely pessimistic about the game believing the Vols were gonna romp on us. I was pleasantly surprised.

I guess I'm forgetting that it's a different coaching staff obviously capable of winning any given ballgame.

Big weekend coming up!

LSU and the Tide! My attitude about this game is about like the one I had with Tennessee. It would be nice if the outcome were the same...

The National Title is indeed a mess this year... looks like it will be Ohio State playing a one-loss team again.

It will be another great SEC battle. Bama does not have the talent that LSU has, but you never assume anything when these two play. Lots of reasons that this will be a tough game both ways.

Re: College Football begins... your thoughts!

Not a lot of real exciting games this weekend...

#21 Wisconsin at #1 Ohio State (? - could be a good one)

#4 Arizona State at #5 Oregon

Florida State at #2 Boston College (? - who knows - it could happen)

Texas A&M at #6 Oklahoma (an opportunity for Coach Fran to maybe save his job?)

Troy at #10 Georgia (Our poor ole Troy is playing some serious beef this year - but hey... we did beat up on Oklahoma State)

Wink Re: College Football begins... your thoughts!

I feel this week about the way I felt before LSU vs Kentucky... uhoh. Which version of the Tigers will show up in Tuscaloosa?

I think Nick Saban will become even more popular throughout the SEC than Steve Spurrier is right now, especially in Tennessee.

Re: College Football begins... your thoughts!

I think LSU is going to be ready for the Tide. As Leonard has pointed out... LSU has the talent over Bama. Saban recruited most of that talent, so they gotta be pretty good. It will be interesting to see what he recruits at Bama over the next few years.

We will need some good breaks and we will need to be playing our best... it will take some really good overall coaching to get it done.

Should I remove the LSU decal from my truck before I go through Tuscaloosa next Saturday?

My Mississippi friends say no way!

Sonnie, you're my 'Bama friend. Just wait 'till next year. It'll be some game.

Re: College Football begins... your thoughts!

Looks like we may have returned to the days of great talented LSU teams that played with a lack of discipline and consistency. For all of the flack that Saban gets, he does have very disciplined teams that play to their potential and beyond. The Bobby Knight quote about Dale Brown comes to mind..."never has so little been done with so much." I wish Les Miles the best, but I have my doubts after the last few games.

Re: College Football begins... your thoughts!

I've noticed that also. I really was expecting the Tigers to lose to 'Bama. They tried hard. The number of penalties is pitiful. 'Bama really did everything they needed to in order to win, without ultimate success. They will obviously be back, but will we have the same coach?
