What can I say... I am actually scared to say anything... about Bama that is. #2

Texas looks awesome... Penn State looks awesome... everyone else is surviving what they can.

The Florida vs. Georgia game will be a biggy today... probably one of the better games.

Texas vs. Texas Tech could be good, but I think ultimately Texas will be too much for them.

We can only hope. I always feel a little warmer inside when a Florida team loses, almost any Florida team.

Of course it was an ugly day for the Bugeaters. Oklahoma was not kind, nor was fate. I found it almost hysterically amusing, and nearly shot beer out my nose, when the announcer asked, after about 6 minutes of play and Oklahoma up 28-0: "What's next for Nebraska, locusts?" Everything bad that could happen, did, and all in the first few minutes, it seemed.

Texas Tech looked good. I hope that the game between Tech and Oklahoma will be all that it has the potential to be, I'll be watching that one for sure. There were some other entertaining games, I enjoyed watching the last hour of the ND/Pitt game, 4OT.

I agree on the Florida teams... they are generally all scary as can be. We have FSU and the Hurricanes tame at the moment, but the Gators are hunting meat big time. IF... and that is a BIG IF... Bama beats LSU, we will play the Gators in the SEC Championship game. That is a scary thought in itself.

Tech looked very good and their next few games will be exciting to watch against OSU and OU.

Re: College Football begins... your thoughts!

I might just have to pull for Bama to beat my Tiggers (new mascot borrowed from Disney after the game with the Gators). I would love to see an SEC team in the BCS Championship game and the winner of a UF-BAMA SEC Championship game with 1 or 0 losses would likely get the bid, considering the schedule that they play. I'd hate to see LSU be the spoiler.

Re: College Football begins... your thoughts!

Yeah... that would be nice. I think Florida could very well go all the way, but it would be some team like Texas Tech to sneak up on everyone and bite them. That is what I thought of Missouri to start with, but they seem to have faded a bit after their loss to Texas. If Tech can beat OSU and OU... whoa nellie.

I think Bama is still a couple of years away from being that big time team. I like to be optimistic, but I am also realistic.

Re: College Football begins... your thoughts!

Bama pulled through... wow, what a game. I am not sure who had the most mistakes, Bama or LSU. It was not doubt a game where whoever made the last mistake was probably going to lose. I thought when we missed the FG at the end, it was over in OT, but low and behold Lee through the interception in the end zone. I felt somewhat relieved, but still worried if were going to have to attempt another FG kick.

Penn State dropped, so it looks like Florida will move on up.

The Gators and Bama are locked in the SEC Championship game. I don't think I am looking forward to that game... Florida is looking really good.

I predict Florida vs. Texas Tech for the National Championship game. I would like to see Bama in there, but I gotta be realistic. We may very well go 12-0, but then I think we end up probably 13-1... not a bad year at all. Of course, anything can happen between now and then.

Re: College Football begins... your thoughts!

Leonard... our boy in Troy gave the bayou Bengals about all they could handle. I had a feeling LSU would come back in the second half, but boy did they wait long enough to get it back.

We passed the football team heading to Baton Rouge when we were on our way in to work Friday morning. I made the statement then that it would probably be ugly for Troy. I had no idea Troy would jump out front like they did. I guess they were like Bama... a little weathered after last weeks game. It took Bama until the second half to get going as well.

We need a week off, which we are getting. Hopefully we can get prepared for Auburn... one we really need to win. If we can beat them... the season will be complete for me. From there, a win against the Gator would only be a very special bonus. Not that I wouldn't want a shot at the National title... just being realistic for this year. I think with us starting 16 freshman... we will be a team to reckon with in the next few years.

Re: College Football begins... your thoughts!

I told you that the LSU-Bama game would be the war of the season. It was ugly and took its toll on both teams. I am surprised as anyone that the Tigers were able to come back on Troy. Regardless, it shows how many fine programs there are and how anyone can be beaten on any day.

Now the big question is who will show up for the SEC Championship. If the Gators keep doing what they have been and Bama plays its best, we will have another brutal battle. I think it will be hard to beat the Gators, though. Their weapons just go too deep.

Re: College Football begins... your thoughts!

Yeah... I definitely agree... the Gators have some massively explosive weapons that are going to be hard to tame. No doubt they have more talent than Bama. Not that Bama doesn't have talent... we just have a lot of young talent. About the best we can hope for is that we bring our absolute best game and Florida has an off day like they did against Ole Miss. I am not too excited about it though... just too many things are going to have to happen for us to win.

Re: College Football begins... your thoughts!

Roll Tide!

We spanked up on Awburn... but we was supposed to, so nothing too exciting. I am more excited for the players and other fans than anything else. I was sure hoping we were not going to have to face 7 years in a row. That's over with finally... hopefully for several years.

I am just at awe that we managed a 12-0 season... and even if we end up at 12-2, I am one happy camper with our season. WOW! Who would have ever thunk it?

NOT that I don't want to beat the Gators, but we have far surpassed my expectations.

Now... should we beat the Gators... whoa! Look out somebody.

Saban is some kind of coach to do what he has done. Simply amazing!

Re: College Football begins... your thoughts!

Should be a real war in Atlanta. Can't wait.

How about OK. They look scary good. The winner of the Bama-UF game will have its hands full.

Unfortunately, it looks like my Tiggers decided to lay down for the end of the season. Ole Miss is up and coming, but to get beat by this AK team is just about as humiliating as the beating the Gators gave them.

Re: College Football begins... your thoughts!

Yes... OK and Texas both look good, but especially OK.

I think the war would be the Gators and the Sooners. Massive!

While Saban is good and our team is no slouch, I just think we are a couple of years away from being on the level of a Florida, Oklahoma or Texas.

Yeah... I did notice the bayou boogie boys look like they just gave up for the season after the Bama game.

Don't underestimate the Tide. Any team that survives the SEC undefeated the way they have can likely play with anyone. Remember what happened in the last two BCS Championship games. I think that no matter what happens, we have two great championship games to look forward to, the SEC and BCS games will both be great battles.

Re: College Football begins... your thoughts!

I dont have a clue what to think of the sec championship, I can say as a sooner that I would not be particularly excited about facing tebow. We have a horrible history with mobile quarterbacks. Just look at last weekend or even worse, last years bowl against west virginia, pat white tore us a new one. A Florida OU game might come down to which defense can get a single stop...

Re: College Football begins... your thoughts!

I am just looking forward to a couple of great ball games, either way. These are great teams and great coaches. You can be that they will be ready to play. Saban might not have quite the depth of talent, but he will have his team playing its best, if history is an indicator.

Well... it was good up until the 4th quarter... and we played 'em much closer than I thought we would. Saban had Bama very well prepared, but we just aren't quite there yet.

Wow! What a season for Bama... 12-1 and a trip to the Sugar Bowl with a good chance to end the season 13-1 and possibly in the top 5. I'll take it for Saban's second year.

Great game! Great players, great coaches, and great play. Looking back on the season, it really is amazing that we were 1 point away from having two undefeated teams in the SEC championship game.

Re: College Football begins... your thoughts!

Now I am very curious as to how this is going to fall out. In the BCS ... Oklahoma was #2 has scored 60+ points in there last 5 games, yet they got beat by the #3 Texas. #4 Florida beats #1 Bama. Texas is saying we beat Okie... I just wonder if it may end up being a rematch between those two, leaving Florida out?

It will be florida and ou. The only reason florida was lower in the last bcs was the computers and the computers will give florida a TON of points for taking down number 1.

And dont forget that OU is the only div 1 school to get over 700 points in a single season EVER!

Texas is gonna be hot.... "We beat Okie!"

Tough situation this year. Such a need for a playoff system... of which we semi have one to an extent. We witnessed part of it today, but it needs to be a true playoff system.

Re: College Football begins... your thoughts!

Sonnie, just a warning...trying to figure out the BCS will hurt your brain.

I just like to see good football. I do think it would be more interesting to see an inter-conference matchup than a rematch, and I think that most would agree, even many in the Big 12. They just have to want to get a shot at beating the SEC. Texas may be unhappy with the result, but the fact is that they had their shot at OK already and they did not win the conference.

Certainly the system begs for a playoff. I think you could eliminate one game, eliminate the conference championships, and add a quarter- and semi- playoff at the end of the season with the top 8 teams and the survivors would get to play for the title. The top two teams would play no more games than they do now and others could still go to bowl games. You would give up a couple of non-conference games that are irrelevant anyway.
