What about NASCAR fans... I've seen a few.

Who will take the Championship this year?

My vote is JJ #48... I think he'll hang on to it this year.

Oh ... Sonnie,

You're baiting me here.

As long as Kenseth can stay off of Gordon's bumper, he will probably take it in mundane fashion.

... I just can't stomach JJ. Between him and the Pinhead, er Busch, brothers, they are the only drivers who will cause me to turn off the TV before the winner's circle interview if they win.

Meanwhile, I can't wait until Talladega in October. OV Hill North Tower, row 43.

Re: NASCAR

It's possible... Jeff's new wife may have lit a fire under him... he has been doing rather well since. My wife is a huge #24 fan. I wouldn't mind seeing him win. Anyone but Tony Stewart

Nice seats... I've sat around that area before, but mostly Moss-Thornton. It's been a while since I've been though. I'd like to go to Atlanta sometime... that's probably my favorite track up there.

Re: NASCAR

Well I also hope little Jeffy wins it this year. I think he is a class guy with gobs of talent.
Tony is also talented but he acts like a spoiled brat and bad mouths anyone who races him hard.

Re: NASCAR

Will admit to knowing absolutely nothing about Nascar! I however do follow Formula One quite closely and one of the drivers, Juan Pablo Montoya is switching to Nascar, it could almost be interesting to see how he fares!?

Is that the guy who will be driving one of the new Toyota cars?

Re: NASCAR

Here is a bit of info from the BBC "Juan Pablo Montoya could make an early debut in Nascar racing after his move from the McLaren Formula One team.

He is being lined up to compete in Nascar's second-tier Busch Series next month after being released by McLaren.

"We hope we can get something going on by the middle of August," said Ganassi team boss Chip Ganassi.

"When we get the details of his release we will be all over every chance we get to put him in good cars in circuits he needs to see."

Montoya is expected to learn the basis of stock car racing in the Busch Series, before stepping up to the senior Nextel Cup, and admitted he would have to bide his time and not disturb the team's existing set-up."

I will also admit to not particularly liking Montoya, a very good driver but makes too many mistakes and can be to0 aggressive on the track IMO.

Re: NASCAR

I'll keep an eye out for him. JohnM worked with the F1 team at one time in some way or another. He told me what he did but I can't remember exactly what it was.

He may not be the one I was thinking of that will be driving a Toyota.

Hamlin took it all the way today... he's a newcomer. He's won Pocono twice this year and only raced 7-8 races all of last year. Not to bad for a rookie.

I thought Jeff might have something for him but Kurt ended up with more.

... What I meant to say, and did so poorly above, is that I believe that Kenseth will take the Cup this year. Just don't expect him to create a whole lot of excitement along the way.

p.s., a funny sidenote: My 4 year old son, was watching part of the race with me today, and at one point they put up a graphic with Kurt Busch's picture. My son pointed at the TV and said, " Dadda look, ... Pinhead."

... guess I gotta watch more what I say.

Yeah... I was thinkin' Gordon all the way with what you said... lol. I said Gordon's wife but my wife reminded me that it is merely his fiancee right now.

Ahhh... now we know what you think of Kurt... obviously your son does too. heehee

I was away on holidays for a week so didn't get to see the Pocono race but caught some choice hi lights on Speed Ch.Looks like Tony made another friend in Carl Edwards.Does anyone know if CE actually caught up to TS post race to deliver on his threats?

Re: NASCAR

I haven't heard anything on it myself, but CE was none to happy about it. Tony has a temper... not needed while driving the speeds they drive. I personally think they should ban him from driving. It's just too serious to have folks out there like him. I guess you can tell I'm not a big TS fan huh?

Re: NASCAR

I agree Sonnie TS is a hazard to other drivers and NASCAR should start clamping down on him before something bad happens.I'm not a fan of his personality(I put him in the same group as Pinhead and Harvick) but the boy can sure drive a car when he puts his mind to it.Funny earlier in the year he was whining about Pinheads little bro being a danger to others. His attitude reminds me of Paul Tracy.

Re: NASCAR

JJ looked strong today. I thought for a while Burton was gonna take it... but I guess at the end he just didn't have it

Wicked looking hit #9 took there at the end... I was afraid that one wasn't gonna turn out well, but fortunately he was okay.

Re: NASCAR

Yeh old JJ is still lookin like the man to beat.
Glad KK is alright but kinda wished it was TS using the wall to modify the looks of his Chevy instead of the #9.
Jeffy needs to start getting a bit of #48's luck.(or steal Knaus away from him).

Re: NASCAR

You know I haven't really figured this move out by Hendricks and Gordon yet. Didn't they take Jeff's crew and give them to JJ? Now JJ seems to have the car. I realize Jeff owns half of JJ's car, but still it doesn't make sense to me.

Ya not sure why' but I bet Gordon wishes he had Chad as his crew chief. He is a big factor in the success of the #48.Hearing him on the pit radio coaching and chearleading JJ in the race sunday was great. He always seems to make the right call.
