Re: College Football

I have never been a ND fan... just never have, but I did expect to see them do much better than they did this year. They came much closer to beating a better USC last year to only get whooped up on by them this year.

#10 Auburn against #22 ??? ... what kind of match up is that?

It seems like when they get past the number 1 and 2 teams there is then no rhyme or reason to the match ups.

Re: College Football

Well our little ole bitty local team, Troy University, who the ESPN gurus gave no chance whatsoever against Rice, really showed their stuff in the New Orleans Bowl. They kicked booty!

Go Troy!!!!!!

Re: College Football

Well, I guess those that though Michigan should have been in the Championship game got a shock. Hopefully, those that think the Gators don't have a prayer will get one, too.

Go Tigers. Hope the SEC wins out in the bowls.

Re: College Football

SEC (0) vs. Big Ten (2) in this years bowls - but I do think the Gators vs. the Bucks will be a very good game - should come down to a late TD or FG.

Did anyone see the Boise St / OK game Mon night! Wow!

So, how mad do you think I was since I turned the game off in disgust when Oklahoma returned the interception for a touchdown in the last minute?

Go ahead, guess...

On the bright side, good to see my team take it to Texas A&M.

And my oh my, USC sure put a smack down on Michigan. I have to admit I didn't think it was going to be that bad.

Re: College Football

Notre Dame squashed in a bowl game.. again.

So not trying to be snide, but I've always been a bit "irratated" with the apparent bias Notre Dame has had with the media, the pollsters, and the BCS. It's nine (bowl games) in a row that they've lost now. I don't think you can explain that away unless you say they've got some bias for them.

Ok, I'll put my soapbox away now.

Re: College Football

As long as the bowls are decided based on percieved veiwer interest, ND will continue to get overmatched, at least until they setp up to the top tier of teams.

Re: College Football

That BSU/OU game has got to be the best game I have seen in a many years... possibly it tops the list. I was somewhat pulling for the underdog BSU because it seemed like everyone was making light of them. Of course when OU returned the interception for a touchdown I surely thought it was over but I kept watching anyway. I would have never imagined the circus play BSU pulled off and I certainly would have never imagined the two point play. It was absolutely awesome!

Even a lot of SEC fans would have a hard time pulling for Tennessee to beat PS. Fulmer has about as much class as Bobby Bowden, and T is the FSU of the SEC. I think no one in the SEC was surprised when AK go beat by LSU and UF...what was the Bobby Knight quote about Dale Brown...something like "never has there been so little done with so much."

I'll go out on a limb here. UF by 9.

SEC is 5-3 in Bowl games this season, but 0-2 vs. Big Ten.

Just kidding Sonny I think the SEC is the deepest conference this year & your bound to lose a few...

Just to be contrary I think it's actually going to be a semi-blowout.

Re: College Football

Looks like we blew it on our predictions, Sonnie.

You have to be happy for Chris Leak and Chris Hetland. And you have to respect the coaching staff at UF.

Re: College Football

Absolutely... awesome coaching job. Leak was brilliant!

I don't wanna take anything away from Florida... they took it to OSU no doubt. However, I do wonder now, what kind of game it would have been if it had been played earlier? Or what would have happened in a playoff situation? I don't know if anyone would have beaten the Gators as well prepared as they were, but how well would OSU have played if they had a warm up game or two... such as in a playoff?

Re: College Football

I think it could have been very different. What was apparent was how well prepared they had the gators. Also, rmember that UF not only had a much shorter layoff, but played an extra game that OSU did not. That extra game experience may be important, too.

No doubt a playoff system is badly needed, and the teams should all play the same number of games before it starts.

Re: College Football

Well you got one part right... "blowout". Make 3 changes and you got it exact...

1. Remove "semi"
2. Change "Ohio" to "Florida"
3. Change "13" to "27"

Re: College Football

No one would have predicted that game. Both teams seem to have handled it with class. The way Troy Smith hugged and talked to Chris Leak after the game was deserving of notice. Frankly, it would have been more fun if they had showed up to play, as I never like to see a game where someone gets blown out, but it was satisfying in the context of the reverence most commentators held for OSU before the game. It was also time for Leak to get the respect he deserves, including from UF fans.
