| | College Football Well... it's only a few weeks out and it's one of my favorite sports. I love college football. Who's your favorite team and who do you think we can look out for this year? My team is the Alabama Crimson Tide... ROLL TIDE ROLL! I think we'll do fair this year if we can get our QB situation in check. The SEC is a tough conference and we have our work cut out for us as always. The team I think we can all look out for is Notre Dame. They came so very close to beating USC last year... awesome game it was... probably one of the best all year long. They've got some really good players returning including QB Brady Quinn. | |||

| | Re: College Football One guess who my college football/basketball/baseball/rugby/water polo/golf/gymnastics/track/hockey/crew/lacrosse/volleyball/field hockey/soccer/etc.. If we can get our QB issue figured out, I think we have a good shot to make it to the BCS somewhere. JCD | |||

| Re: College Football Ultimate Schedule in Excel This spreadsheet schedule is very nice. The conferences are divided by the tabs on the bottom and just scroll to the right and left for all weeks in the season. | | Re: College Football Yeah, we start and end (almost -- forget Stanford, there is no way they're getting The Axe back!) with our biggest testers. If we get by Tennessee and USC, I can't imagine we won't be in a major bowl game. Not that we won't need to be prepared for Oregon and UCLA. If Cal's bowl game is in Pasadena, you'll know where I'll be on Jan 1! JCD | |||

| Re: College Football Sorry Pupton, (seems odd calling you that) but replacing 9 starters on D doesn't make it an easy year for the Bucks despite all the hype. Even though I am a Buckeye grad and I live in the city limits of Columbus, (I know the mailing address is Powell but my house is within the city limits) I can see them having big trouble in the conference this year. One QB does not a team make. | |||

| | Re: College Football It's lookin' like the OSU and Michigan winner will be in the drivers seat. I don't see any danger for either of them between now and then. The question might be who will they play? USC, West Virginia or Louisville. USC still has Oregon, Cal and Notre Dame to get by... not an easy task. I say they fall to one of those. That leaves us with the winner of West Virginia and Lousiville. I don't see anyone giving either of them a battle between now and then or the rest of the season. Okay... maybe Rutgers is no gimme, but I don't see them hangin'. So it's possible we could end up with the winner of the OSU/Michigan vs. the winner of West Virginia/Louisville.... that is if either of them can vault past Auburn, who has a relatively easy schedule the rest of the way out too. Heck Auburn stands a chance at playing the #1 team and they have a loss. We need a playoff system in the worst kinda way. | |||

| | Re: College Football Yeah, OSU or Michigan should be able to make it no prob. Both are tough teams with relatively light schedules before their last game against each other. Of course, Auburn thought that before their game against Arkansas. USC is too shaky right now to say they'll make it through the rest of the season unscathed. I think Cal is playing much better ball right now -- granted, I may be biased, but I still believe it. Looking at the remaining Top Ten in the BCS: West Virginia -- That'd be my pick for the other team to make the championship game. Tough game against Louisville, but I think Louisville is overrated. And since they've got a head start on the remaining teams, I can't see them falling down in the standings. Louisville -- I've already said it, I think they're good, but over rated. They'll lose to West Virginia for sure and drop out of the top 10. Florida -- After their loss to Auburn, I thought they would have dropped farther. Anyway, they can coast the rest of the season with their schedule and should be punished for it in the standings. They did have some good wins though -- LSU and Tennessee are no cream puffs. Notre Dame -- I don't understand how they're ranked as high as they are. With only 1.5 quality wins (IMO), and some games where they barely made it, I can't see how people see them as a top 10 team. They'll definitely lose at least one more game between now and the end of the season. Maybe more. I wouldn't be surprised if they lost to both UCLA and USC. The rest of their season is pretty much a cake walk though. Texas -- Totally underrated. I don't understand how they're rated below Notre Dame, Auburn, Florida -- all teams with one loss. Texas' only loss is to Ohio State, the No. 1 team and they've played pretty well other than their loss to Ohio State. Cal -- I honestly think they'll win their remaining games. Defense has stepped up (especially the last game) and the offense has generally done really well. Take away that first game, which I think they'd win right now, and I think they'd be ranked in the top 4 or 5. Unfortunately, there is too much ground to make up, so they won't make the Championship game. However, even better, they will finally make it to the Rose Bowl for the first time in forever. As a true Pac 10 guy, I'd rather play/win the Rose Bowl than win the Championship Bowl game. Anyway, that's the world according to JCD. JCD | |||

| Re: College Football I hate to be a pessimist, but I am an OSU alum (34 years worth) and all too many times have the Bucks overlooked a weaker team while they were looking ahead to Michigan. It does look like they should reach the Michigan game undefeated, but I want to see it before I'll believe it. OSU's defense is improving, Michigan's defense looks plenty stout, it should be a good game. As far as who the winner may play, I see several teams as being a good match, including West Virginia, Cal, USC, and a few others. Either way, we should be able to see some good football. akitaboy | |||

Now that my heart is beating again from Cal's near loss the week before, it's beating pretty hard now as Cal is in the driver's seat for the Rose Bowl. It would be the first time since 1959 that we've made it. Bad news is that we'd have probably have to play either Michigan or Ohio. Couple of other nail biters in the top ten -- Texas squeeks past Texas Tech and Tennessee comes from way behind to win their game as well. JCD | ||||
