Bass Trap Question

I have had my bass traps up for some time now but am confused on how to empty them. I'm concerned that the accummulate captured sound waves will fill the spaces and cause the trap to operate less efficiently. I have searched the web and can't seem to find any threads about this. Does anyone have any thoughts?

I usually take all the bass that are trapped out, clean them and have a big fish fry.

Um, I'm wondering if this is for real or not....

Bob, take a box or can and make it have a small hole. Yell into the hole then stick your finger over it for a few seconds. If you take your finger away, does the yell come back out?

If you are in a closed room, and you talk, do your words keep bouncing around for a couple of hours?

Real answer: the bass traps take the sound energy and convert them to heat.

A-HA! They ARE NOT bass traps then... they are bass converters!!!

I haven't set my bass traps up yet, but when I do i am going to use a vacuum cleaner to empty them.
I don't want to risk spilling bass on to the new carpet.

I was wondering of you could save me the bass from the traps, as I only have a 10" richter and its lacking some until my new Jamo's arrive for the new house?

Now that's a thought.... we could actually package up all the trapped bass and sell it.

At least it would be easy to calculate the group delay, "No sir, we checked this bass three times and can garuntee the phase delay is less than four weeks".

mine would be no good for sale anyway, my ports are poorly alligned so by the time the bass gets out it isn't so much bass as slightly off color midrange with a dillusional frequency complex
