how do they scam you (yet), no requirement to be an idiot and enter your bank details for example, and they already have your email address. You respond-then what???

With all that info they might have someway of searching for your social security number. I work in finance and we are a member of an online database company called Merlin. With the info above, we can find out your social security number and date of birth. Once they have that, they can apply for credit in your name... identity theft.

righto, and I'm obviously showing how naive I am,but if it is an obvious scam can't the email address given above be traced back to the owners??

Don't worry about replying, as I guess that can't be done else this sort of thing would stop.

Funny isn't it, the entire travelling population of the world have to submit to body searches at airports nowadays etc etc, yet no-one cares that email addresses can be gotten without documentation as above. White collar crime-who cares???
