Can you solve this?

We have 7 guys in a bus.

Each guy has 7 bags.

In each bag are 7 rats.

For every rat there are 7 mice.

How many feet are in the bus?

Re: Can you solve this?

Spoiler
ANSWER: 14 feet

rats and mice do not have feet they have paws hence 7 guys, assuming none are missing any limbs have 14 feet between them.

However, if we count paws as feet then I get an answer of 10990 feet.

7 guys times 7 bags = 49 bags

49 bags times 7 rats = 343 rats

343 rats times 7 mice = 2401 mice

7 guys times 2 feet = 14 feet
343 rats times 4 feet = 1372 feet
2401 mice times 4 feet = 9604 feet

TOTAL 10990

Does the bus have a driver? Does the driver have two feet? If the answer to both of these questions is yes then there are either 16 feet or 10992 on the bus.

I suppose that now have to wait for Sonnie to provide the correct answer which will probably not be anything like what I got!

feet, paws, mitts, ... official synonyms for one another.

There are 7 guys in the bus... one of those may be the driver, none the less there are 7 guys.

Spoiler
14 - no where in the problem does it say the mens bags are in the bus. The only feet in the bus are those of the men (assuming they aren't amputees).

I was thinking along similar lines before, which is why I didn't change my origonal post after the clarifacation of feet, mitts and paws.

The first time I read the question I pulled out my calculator and was typing away confident that I was getting the correct answer. Then I critically read the question to ensure my answer and realized what I did wrong. Unless I completely missed something I see no reason for any other answer.

Sonnie purrty please tell us .

Re: Can you solve this?

10990 is the correct answer... it's not a trick question.

I thought it was a pretty good one myself... it made me think a bit.

Now go and take the Professional Quiz... but don't cry when you don't get the answers right.

Oops - I guess my first instinct was correct! I still think they should have stated the bags were in the bus though .

With much thanks to political correctness and the like in this day and age every answer is correct. And thanks to the education system of the 21st century, if you get something wrong you can just click the undo button and try again.

Now I did try the professional quiz, I posted my answers but I am not sure if you would consider them as being correct or not.
