Hi

I have a Thorhauge tube preamp.
And want to fit a Goldpoint attenuator V24C Custom.
The Thorhauge have a 100ohm (0.1K) potmetre with stepmotor.
I want to take away the motor and fil the Goldpoint.
If I divide 100ohm with 23 I get 4.3ohm. Not easy to find resistors 100 95.7 91.4 87.1 ..........
So can I use the value from 100ohm to 1ohm in normal value and get a 18 step atteuator?
Some ide of good resistors to use?

Best regards

Frank

Hi

Yes 100k, I try to mesure when component in preamp.
Talk to the Danish builder himself.
He use ALPS pot with motor, he and customers have used some Elma and Goldpoint.
Say it sounded clinicel and cold.
Maybe they are so in to tube sound that it sounded to hifi? I do not know.
Anyone with experience on the tema?

Hi

I got now Glasshouse Takman 0,5w Metal Film Shunt Stepped Attenuator with Charcroft "Z" bulk foil as main resistor ( 100K ). And ELMA 2 pole 6 way switch for my preamp.
It sound very good and the Balance between R/L is superb. I think a good switch is as importent as an attaunator. Frank
