I'm still also toying with the idea of adding another manifold to my existing IB. In retrospect, I'm not sure if the Sound Splinters were the best choice for IB, either. The Tempest-X looks a bit more desireable in this application, but with my lack of knowledge on the subject, the differences could be insignificant, for all that I know. As far as the horns go, that ain't going to happen in my house. Even if I wanted to build that thing, I have no room for such things. I have a very small listening area. I will thank you for the ariticle, however. It was quite enjoyable reading. | ||||

| Re: Initial disappointment with IB Ok, a proper boombox for the RL-p15 would be 100l efferctive, with a 6" 41cm port. That give you a 30Hz tuning, and almost 120dB at 40Hz. You sacrifice alot of extension though. My LLT RL-p15s are totally awesome, and go almost an octave and a half lower. I'm down 6dB at 40Hz though. But having two give me those 6 back. We're even at 25Hz, but the peak group delay and port air velocity for the boombox is at 30Hz, where mine are at 13. Quite a difference. You'd also need a highpass filter, further adding group delay and distortion. Above tuning the boombox will take infinite power, though. Almost infinite, anyway. ![]() Still... That small box will be one-note and boomy compared to the IB or an LLT config like mine. I'm sure Steve will chime in here eventually too, and share his insights. ![]() Last edited by atledreier; 04-09-08 at 01:08 PM. | |||

| Re: Initial disappointment with IB Sonnie is right on, two more speakers in your manifold and that thing will rock! The two most common comments from guys who have an IB with two speakers especially 15" is #1 small room with door," sounds good" #2 room open to the rest of the house " my box sub kills this thing!" neither comment is exceptible. IB's are known for being very musical and having enough SPL @ super low freq. to knock your house down![]() ![]() Your problem is not with your equip. and REW testing won't fix it, IB's work completely different than boom boxs, there is no box to make the boom therefor, there is absolutly no boom just clean sound the way the sound track was designed to be heard. Again add two more speakers and amaze yourself and friends. There is a great IB websight, Cult of the Infinatly Baffled Hope this helps, Rick. | |||
