| Best sub for IB Hi guys I'm a newbie. My question is what is the best $500 or less sub for an IB enclosure. I don't have anything yet so I can get the needed amp. Leaning towards an EP2500. I'm building an edition from the grund up so I will build a room, unless I can mount it in the attic. The problem is I'm building a game/HT room not a deicated HT. So far 15'x22' with half a 2nd story loft and the other half a 2 story vault. That is where the screen will be so people on the 2nd floor can watch the screen from above. So the attic space is on the 2nd floor. Any suggestions?. If I have to build a room I might only have room for 2. Is the LMS 5400 all that. If I have to strech the budget I migt be able to swing it that is if I could find them. I am about 4 months away so if the LMS technology gets picked up I could wait. I'm still gathering info and trying to get a full grasp of the IB theory and how to pull it off. Thanks for the feedback Mike:dizzy Sorry these are my wants The ultimate movie experience with great sound on music. I only listen to 2ch 15% or less. I want to feel the bass Last edited by mikey15; 04-17-08 at 10:45 PM. Reason: Expectations | |||

| Re: Best sub for IB If you are looking for the most output, I would use the driver with the most displacement for the lowest cost. There are a lot of good subs being used. And from what I have read most IB system sound much better than a typical box sub. So sound quality and response, regarless of sub choice, should exceed anything you have probably experienced. I suggest reading thru the various construction posts here on this site and research some over at the cult. Now, my choice was the Fi IB18" subs due to the low cost and high displacement. I won't actually build the room until later in the year so I can't give you my opinion on how they will sound. I can't really give much of a comparison (of IB subs) either since I have never heard an IB system before. This will be my first. | |||

| Re: Best sub for IB I am a new comer here. Has anyone here heard of the Exodus line of Subs from DIY Cable? I just bought 2, DPL-15 Drivers. I just recieved them today. It is a brand new driver and the price is right at $125.00. The link: http://www.diycable.com/main/default.php?cPath=24_93 I am planning a IB sub in the ceiling of my office space out in my out building, along with a 7.1 HT system. I have all the parts now, I just need to finish the office so I can watch and listen. | |||

| Re: Best sub for IB The DPL-15 is an IB specific designed Driver. A good amount of X-Max. I forgot to include the specs: Re: 6.1 Ohm Le: 1.7 mH Fs: 19.5 Hz Qms: 3.27 Qes: 0.84 Qts: 0.67 Mms: 271g Cms: 0.23 mm/N Vas: 232L Sd: 830 cm^2 Vd: 3.65L BL: 15.67 SPL: 85.2 1W/1M X-max: 22mm X-mech 29mm Photos are available here: http://ibsubwoofers.proboards51.com/...lay&thread=406 Last edited by fblittle; 06-19-08 at 02:31 AM. | | Re: Best sub for IB I haven't personally heard them but being IB specific they should work well. Depending on how big your office space is, you may want to plan ahead in your IB install for adding another pair in case you decide one pair isn't enough. Just a thought. We're all in this together! | |||

| Re: Best sub for IB The DPL-15 will make excellent IB drivers. My first choice would be Fi IB18's though. cheers Oh yeah, I wouldnt limit my driver selection with what driver has the lowest fs. | |||

| Re: Best sub for IB The DPL-15's just began shipping and are a redesigned Tempest-X made specific for IB which is a proven great sub for IB. I was considering the Fi18's as well but after talking to many people and doing calculations and simulations and looking at displacement and everything else, I ended up going with 8 of the DPL-15's instead of 4 of the Fi18's. To each their own as either setup will produce a great IB; however, for roughly the same price I will be able to move more air with less effort. | |||

| Re: Best sub for IB Not a lot of talk about the AE IB15's. They're 100/ea (when buying 4 or more) and offer real nice Vd/$. But the Fi18's are nice and the DLP-15's offer XBL^2, if that matters to anyone. | |||

| Re: Best sub for IB With that size room I'd go with at least 4 18's or 8 15's. Start with just two if that fits your budget. Add more as you can afford it. Build your manifold(s) to hold what you ultimately want, then plug the unused holes. I run four IXL-18's myself in roughly the same size room. | |||

| Re: Best sub for IB I am interested in these three subs as well. It appears not many people use the AE15 in this forum. I have read in other forums good reviews of the woofer. I would be inereseted in a comparison of the three woofers. | |||
