| Re: Is an IB possible in my room? Optimum volume for an IB is 10 times the Vas of the sub, half of that has been used successfully. How a sub will perform will depend on what sub you choose and the volume of the space being used. | ||||

| Re: Is an IB possible in my room? Ideally yes, per sub. You'll want more then just one sub for a reasonable amount of output. | ||||

| Re: Is an IB possible in my room? Yes. How big is the HT room, is it open to other areas? What kind of out put are you looking for? | ||||

| Re: Is an IB possible in my room? The VAS on the Exodus DPL-15 is 232L, and you get XBL2. | ||||

| Re: Is an IB possible in my room? The model number of the GR's would be nice to figure out what you have so far for low end. What's your budget for subs and an amp? | ||||

| Re: Is an IB possible in my room? Off the top of my head lets say roughly $500 to start. The room to the right is only 4' *7' *7' so left side would be the better option. Last edited by cburbs; 07-01-09 at 07:42 PM.. | ||||

| Re: Is an IB possible in my room? Exodus DPL-15's are $280 a pair plus shipping. I suggest an EP2500 amp for power, they can be found for under $300. You'll need a high pass filter at 16 hz to protect the subs from over excursion, the Reckhorn B1 can do the job for about $100. That puts you in the $700 ball park. The advantage of the EP2500 is it has enough power for a second pair of subs should you decide you want more output in the future. There is enough volume in the 4' x 7' x7' room on the right side for a second pair. The Reckhorn can do both pairs. Yellow is the output of one pair of DPL-15's You can expect 118 db at 20 hz, assuming 6 db of room gain. ![]() | ||||

| Re: Is an IB possible in my room? what makes the exodus better than the AE 15" ? Also is the following true? Lower Qts = tighter sound, higher Qts = better home theater effects. .5 Qts is kind of the best of both worlds if I remember correctly. Would the room on the right be a problem since it has a door and an opening with my Inwall rack? | ||||

| Re: Is an IB possible in my room? The DPL-15 has a higher Xmax, a bit higher power handling, and less Vas requirements. You gain a couple of db in the available space that you have. It's higher Qts = tighter sound. If the door is sealed properly the room on the right shouldn't be a problem. You can use weather stripping if it's required. ![]() | ||||

| Re: Is an IB possible in my room? Do you think there would be any issue using the right side and having the subs right next to the speaker? Also I have seen different approaches on how to build it - Is the following one of the better? My only concern is I don't know if there would be enough room to do it like this on the right side as one sub might be to close to the front wall depending on how the spacing is on the 2*4s. Also if one started with two and wanted to add two more down the line what is the best way to think of doing this - two on the left wall and two on the right wall? all 4 on the right wall? | Re: Is an IB possible in my room? Either the left or right side, there doesn't appear to be enough room between the speaker and the wall for an IB manifold opening. The opening should be above the top of the speaker from what I can see. | ||||

| Re: Is an IB possible in my room? Sorry a tad confused - so which route would be a better route? From the pics I have attatched the top one is a manifold and the bottom one a line array? Also what about an FI 15" IB? Thanks for dealing with all my questions. | ||||

| Re: Is an IB possible in my room? Either manifold or "in line" type is fine, which ever works better for you. I would start with two on the left wall and add two more to the right wall in the future. The in line type would work if your studs are 16 inch on centers and would be less intrusive in back rooms compared to the manifold type. If you do want the manifold type and it's too close to the front wall, the subs can be mounted on the top and bottom of the manifold. The Fi IB3 15 models as well as the others, they are all excellent IB subs. The Exodus DPL-15 was originally suggested as the cheapest to keep as close as possible to your stated budget. Just curious, what are you powering the GR subs with? | ||||
