Norpus' 2nd IB sub

Ok, you guessed I'm trying to post my 5 posts to get into the Soundsplinter competition

but I have just put in this sub on the weekend so it probably qualifies as something new.

It is installed and going through 1st testing this week. Initial observation would suggest a xover at 44Hz (running 1 rear sub only, no front) is quite musical and bass is not locatable. Obviously amp will not stay there but I don't yet have a suitable protective grill to stop onlookers falling in the hole

Exocer it is the new Tempest 15D8, the older version which modelled better to me was not avail. Sonnie there are two drivers opposing each other to cancel vibrations in the manifold. The Tempest was about the only reasonable quality driver available at short notice in Melbourne last week when I committed to the project.

The first sub has 2x18" Avalanches - unfortunately unavailable now otherwise highly likely would have used these again (maybe the 15's) as they are better

Norpus, Is this replacing the IB with the Avalanches? Or is this another one you're using along with the first?

It is a second. One at front centre, one at rear centre.
Not so much for more output but to smooth out room nodes
You can guess I liked the first IB I put in earlier this year

I meant to ask.. do you have before and after thoughts and/or graphs to share? A dual IB like yours has been discussed (especially over at the Cult) but I haven't seen anyone actually do it.

Hehe, yes as soon as I'd heard noone had done it over on the Cult, it had to be done!
Only took 2 weeks from this idea to reality

I have only just installed the 2nd and am awaiting supply of the extra amp(s) so I can run both at once.
I will certainly post findings when I have the data running both. Firstly I will characterise how the new one runs by itself
