IB project help

Guys, im a newbie to IB systems, although ive been building speakers for about 15 years now.

My current setup utilizes 2 12" dayton ref HF drivers in ported enclosures tuned to 25Hz being powered by bash 500 amps.

Id like to install a IB setup but am unsure of what wil give me a noticeable improvement in bass extension and output then what i have now. I am planning on getting 2 IXL 18s and powering them with the Bash 500s. The subs would be mounted on a wall ahead of me with about 1100 cu ft (18x8x8)of space in the room behind.

Im not sure if this setup would work but was hoping someone could chime in.

Thanks Cal

Re: IB project help

Apologies if you're aware of this, but did you alter the rumble filter in those BASH 500s? As shipped, they have an f3 of 31ish Hz with a 2 dB boost centered around 35hz or so. Even with your ported boxes, you should adjust that to an 18hz cutoff with a Q of 1 or less.

Re: IB project help

Yes i did adjust the resistors to actually provide a 4dB boost at 20Hz which also happens to be the cutoff frequency for the rumble filter.

Re: IB project help

Two IXL's will do a pretty good job in your room. I don't know squat about Bash amps. You could always sell them and get a nice pro amp to drive the IXL's.

I am driving 4 IXLs with a Nady XA-900 into a 21X14X8 room and am not using all the amplification from that one amp. I modded the Nady amp with some quiet fans I picked up at the local Radio Shack. Bada Boom.
