| Newbie looking for help Hey guys, I recently just bought 2 Tempest X. I was planning on building 2 large ported subs, then I started looking into going IB with these to speakers. heres a few questions. 1- are these good subs to use for IB 2- What are the differences in design with IB. I see see the manifold where they are mounted in a box facing each other. I also see some wall designs that are just mounted to a wall with no other speaker behind it. How does that work? Then I see some that are mounted internally in a sealed box. I also see some that are like piggy back, one if front of the other. What are the advantages of these different designs. Thanks | |||

| Re: Newbie looking for help Wellcome to the shack! Out of curiousity, why IB? Anyway I suggest you read this http://www.hometheatershack.com/foru...er-system.html I am skeptical about the performance of only 2 tempest X if used in an IB configuration though ASME AI Yamaha RX-V2500, Wharfedale Diamond 9.6 Fronts, Wharfedale Diamond CM Center, Diamond DFS Surround and rear, Behringer FBQ 2496, Dual RL-P18s 625L LLTs, Dual TA-2400 Pro (2 * 2000 W Amp), Samsung HD870 DVD player, Carada BW 16:9 106" screen, Epson TW-2000, 60 Gb PS3 Important HT proverbs: - "You can never have too much headroom" (talking about bass) - "you can never have too big a screen" (talking about still pictures) Projector selection basics Epson TW 2000 review Last edited by Blaser; 03-08-08 at 08:11 AM. | |||

| Re: Newbie looking for help I was considering it to since I have an attic and a good location for it. after a lot of reading, I think I will just make a ported box instead. I dont want to buy more speakers. | |||

| Re: Newbie looking for help I suggest that you stick with an LLT configuration if you have the space. Best sound quality and output solution or compromise if you want. | Re: Newbie looking for help Infinite baffle - by far the easiest to build and configure. (especially if you have an attic - where you don't have to see it) Blaser - I looked at your sub photos. That thing is huge! You couldn't have possibly set out to (purposely) design such a monstrosity, could you have? | |||

| Re: Newbie looking for help Yes I purposely designed such monstruosity, and Imust admit they are huge, yet well integrated in my room. For more info, I suggest that you see in this thread what my room looks like now without subs visible anymore: http://www.hometheatershack.com/foru...ld-thread.html Price to pay was a bit more than 2 feet from the front wall, but this also helped to hide speakers and allowed for a smaller screen ![]() ASME AI Yamaha RX-V2500, Wharfedale Diamond 9.6 Fronts, Wharfedale Diamond CM Center, Diamond DFS Surround and rear, Behringer FBQ 2496, Dual RL-P18s 625L LLTs, Dual TA-2400 Pro (2 * 2000 W Amp), Samsung HD870 DVD player, Carada BW 16:9 106" screen, Epson TW-2000, 60 Gb PS3 Important HT proverbs: - "You can never have too much headroom" (talking about bass) - "you can never have too big a screen" (talking about still pictures) Projector selection basics Epson TW 2000 review | |||
