I'm not really following you here. How do you 'lower' the driver into place unless the cabinet is upside down?

And even if so, you still have the issue I mentioned before, not much space to work in to secure either the driver, or a removable baffle, between that and your bottom of the cabinet.

This is very close to how M & K does/did it, and it works great. They didn't use a removeable baffle, but just bottom mounted the lower woofer to the fixed baffle. That's fine as long as the recess in the lower baffle is precisely sized for the woofer frame.
