| Re: New diy sub Mike, Can you expain what you mean by the pole vents. Sorry chaps, bad news. Couldn't test the sub in the end. Another stumbling block. I need to make the inner circles very slightly bigger as the drivers are a bit tight so some of the bolts dont screw in. Will have to test it next weekent. Bummer! cheers Graham | ||||

| Re: New diy sub With 3 15's I have to turn the bass down in a 23x16 room for the wife to look at moves with me lest the room shake and scare her into thinking a car hit the house (or something of the sort)...I can only imagine what these things will do..................to seismometers in the area. Good luck | ||||

| Re: New diy sub Wow, graham. The build looks awesome. I really wish I would have made my driver flush mounted. maybe I still can though...Haven't painted it yet, so hopefully I can get like half a sheet of MDF from Home Depot ot Lowes and slap it on the front. But, I have done a slight roundover on the front edges of the box already, so it might not work either way. Great job yet again. Anxious to hear your thoughts on how it sounds ![]() | ||||

| Re: New diy sub Sub junkie, Thank you very much. Will keep you all updated as usuall. Was going for Dual 18" Maelstroms. originally so you can imagine what that would be like but my budget wouldn't allow it. cheers graham | ||||

| Re: New diy sub I wish I could do dual Mal-X's That would be awesome. And each of them in a 18 cu.ft box...oh so many possiblities haha | ||||

| Re: New diy sub Hi there, No there just an opposite dual configuration like the submersive. This is what I have based my design on. I originally wanted a submersive but to import one into the UK would cost around £1700 all in including taxes etc.. So I decided to build my own submersive but on a bigger scale. This is costing me £1500 all in and I am pretty sure this should walk all over a submersive in performance and ability. It was Mark Seaton that inspired me to build this mammoth project. Well I hope so any way. Another guy on the avforum over here in the UK is making a push/pull sub but he hasn't started building it yet. cheers Graham | ||||

| Re: New diy sub The blt is pricey ill agree with some there but the price for performance is bested by no subwoofer i can think of Steve is a beast for engineering of that woofer. If you get the 18 in and run it off of a mackie or a qsc powered pa amp around 2500 watts your good a little overhead is nice with bigger magnets and yes your neighbor will like it once he can no longer hear the bass but feel the shaking of his bed frame after the action scene in a movie or the bass line of a song. back atcha mate cheers | ||||

| Re: New diy sub I am running the behringer europower 4000 bridged at 2400 watts rms into 4 ohms. Should be interesting to say the least. My brother and I carried it into the house yesterday and with the driver in it was bloody heavy. Over 320lbs is going to be very interesting to move around I know that for sure. cheers Graham | ||||

| Re: New diy sub yeah 320 lbs thats massive for sure...ahhh i see behringer amp howd you like that bad boy so far i was looking at getting its younger brother the 2000 its more in the lines of my budget but i looked and also found a mackie fr 1400i, im still debating.. any thoughts? And you decided on the Btl? | ||||

| Re: New diy sub The box is 22" wide by 36" high by 30" long. All out of 25mm mdf (hence the weight) with 3 internal bracing. According to FI I have a qtc of about 1.1 but with the 5kg of fiber fill to add I should be down to 0.85 ish which should give me a nice solid bass with really good low end grunt. DB figures are about 104db at 10hz, 115db at 20hz and 127db 50hz and up. That doesn't include any room gain. I have also upgraded the FI's with the BP power upgrade which should add another 300 watts to the drivers each. I previously owned a SVS PB13 ultra and as a home theatre sub it was great but not for music in my opinion hence going for a big sealed sub. Cone excursion is only at 23mm max and it still has more to play with. QTC is at 0.940 according to WinISD. I bought my oak veneer yesterday so all I have left to do now is make some grooves in the inside of the side so that it fits flush, veneer, rebate the corners and add some quadrant. Then just varnish. Job done! cheers graham | ||||

| Re: New diy sub In the mean time im going to sell my kickers and get an FI Btl so i can use it for my room then for my car... I was also wondering with the behringer 4000 do you ever blow fuses to your homes fuse box cause i think it needs to be a grounded 20amp gfci fuse outlet because physical means = 1600 watts max out of a standard 15 amp outlet (USA only arrgg) i want to get the 4000 but i dont want to upgrade the wiring in my room to a higher gauge cause then i have to rip sheet rock and as you may know that aint fun! ![]() ![]() Last edited by KrazyBassKevin; 11-01-09 at 04:29 AM.. | ||||

| Re: New diy sub Yeah i just calculated that to well, so you run the standard outlet for that behringer no 20 amp gfci outlets? I would get the beh. 4000 but if i cant run it in my room a mackie fr1400 will have to suffice | ||||
