Re: RE 15

I just got a standard RE 12" for my suv, that sub sounds nice.

Now the RE XXX, does require a good bit of cu ft and its a hungry sub. What amp you planning to push it with?

Woulden't hurt to add it to one of your vehicles. If you plan not to do anything with it, please let me know.... I'll buy it from you. K?

Re: RE 15

The FS is fairly high for a 15". Is there anything that you could use another subwoofer for? I was thinking that it may work in some sort of music system.

Re: RE 15

Well if you want to try it out in a big ported box you could go with 270-300L tuned to 16hz.

Re: RE 15

Well, I'm not sure if I want a big box, because it would be hard for me to take it upstairs
I now this sub is not ideal for a home sub, but just want it to now if there was a change to build something decent, maybe tune to 20 to 25hz, like I said this is just for fun.
I probably use a EP2500 bridge to 4ohms

I'm not going to put this on my truck, when it comes to car audio one 10" its enough to me (not a BASS HEAD)

Re: RE 15

I hear ya Rodney. I run 1 10" TC1000 sealed in my car and it does fine for me. What did you have in mind as far as your 15" is concerned? That's a really rugged driver with a lot of xmax. What size box are you willing to go with?

Re: RE 15

Somewhere from 6 or 7 cft, with the port!
how low can it be tuned to with that air space??

Re: RE 15

You could do 7ft tuned to 18-17hz with a 6" port. It should be able to take everything that the EP2500 can dish out above 16hz. The port will get overloaded at high levels though. Would need a rumble filter too for safety's sake.

Re: RE 15

Unless I entered the parameters wrong, low tuning doesn't look very good with up to 7 cubes. I'm liking 180 effective liters (saving you volume for the port) with an 8" diameter port that is 24" long, yielding a tuning ~26.5hz. Headroom in the usable range would be tremendous for a single 15". Only problem is you'd want something like an 18hz highpass in the loop.

Re: RE 15

Might be that we ended up with different parameters. I had to let WinIsd auto-calculate quite a bit. I don't have the driver loaded on this computer. I'll check later.

You think we can go a little lower on the tuning?

Thanks!!

Re: RE 15

Sure, but then there will be a slight rolloff before room gain comes into play. It will be less dramatic than the rolloff from a sealed sub of course, but....well, I guess I'm a perfectionist

200 liters with a 6" diameter port that is 22" long will give you ~20hz tuning with a response that is pretty good. You'll be a little over 7 cubes with the port - if you need to stay smaller, you can try 180 liters with a 6" port that is 20" long for ~22hz tuning. You may need a 15hz highpass with either of those.

Re: RE 15

That's the hard part. Plate amps have them built in, but nobody wants to use a stinkin plate amp I think member Chasw from various audio forums builds and sells them pretty cheap, you may wanna try getting in contact with him.

I was mentioned the CSS Reckhorn awhile back. I think it was 89$. Looked pretty decent but I don't personally own one yet.

If you buy a Yamaha amp, you'll get one built in...
