Re: 4 18" 5400's and 8 passives "WOW!"

I was sidetracked by hurricanes Gustav and Ike, but as I got back to business and ready to go, I unfortunately broke a finger and surgery lead to complications. I am just now getting back to a somewhat usable sense of my former self. I hope to get going forward soon.

Thanks,

Robert

Beautiful work. Those look more like main speakers than subwoofers. They will never know....

I'm posting to receive the updates to this thread. I'm impressed. Maybe if I ever do my build I'll pick your brain for tips if you allow it. I have zero wood working skills, or almost.

Thanks for the encouragement and compliments. I am happy with the way they are turning out. I have been looking at them in that garage so long that I am kind of used to their size. People who see them for the first time have quite a different reaction. I cannot wait to finish.

Awesome. Great work Robert, the grills look really nice. And I don't care if you're used to them or not, those things are ginormous.

Re: 4 18" 5400's and 8 passives "WOW!"

Granite is paid for and templates are made. Supposed to be ready in 2 weeks. Here are the templates in place.

Oh yeh,

I might have to use a forklift to move these bad boys. I have a guy I know who has a 44 foot boom lift. He says he might be able to get them to my second floor from the yard next door, but we will have to measure more accurately.

Thanks,

Robert

Re: 4 18" 5400's and 8 passives "WOW!"

Seems that way. I'm more worried about finishing this project. It is getting very heavy or I am getting extremely weak. I just want to get done. Hopefully paint can go in the next couple weeks, and be kind of wrapping up by month's end. Today is my birthday, and I was hoping to get them done by now, but at least I see the light. I got lucky with the granite. They dropped a whole slab of absolute black and it just so happenned to break in 4 pieces. They are willing to do all the cutting and polishing on both sides of the tops and all the mounting holes and bore holes, so they say. I already paid half. So, hopefully, they will come through.

It's been almost a year since your first post and the start of this project. Thanks for hangin in there Robert. You're an inspiration to all of us. You've been through lots of heartache and pain and still looking to the day when you can proudly say . . . . There! it's done.

Robert,

I just noticed in the full on side profile shot in post #191 that there is a hole drilled in the side of the cabinet. What is this for?
