| Torrent Audio Mistral 12 DVC I'm looking to build a sealed sub for a 100% music application. I see that the Mistral 12 DVC (db-500) is $89. Has anyone used this sub in a sealed enclosure? This sub is going to be used with the BAMTM speakers from Zaphaudio. I will either use a plate amp or my crown xls802d to power it. http://www.torrentaudio.com/mistral12dvc-p-73.html Thank you, Jon | ||||

| Re: Torrent Audio Mistral 12 DVC There are a couple of threads on AVSforum.com about sealed TC Sounds DB-500s (same driver as the Mistral). I've mostly seen this driver used in ported enclosures, not to say that it doesn't work well sealed. | ||||

| Re: Torrent Audio Mistral 12 DVC What are your thoughts on this driver in 3.35 cubic foot sonotube tuned to 20.3hz? I would wire the sub in series for an 8 ohm load and power it with 500w from the crown XLS amp. 16" sonotube with a 4" flared port. | ||||

| Re: Torrent Audio Mistral 12 DVC Yeah, that looks good. I'd try to get a bigger port in there, or multiple smaller ones. The port airspeed with 500W is a little high for my liking. | ||||

| Re: Torrent Audio Mistral 12 DVC That's close to what Matt built with a TC-12DB-500. He had good results. http://www.hometheatershack.com/foru...-feedback.html | ||||

| Re: Torrent Audio Mistral 12 DVC Have you looked at the RSS265 10" woofer? Works well in a sealed enclosure, they also make a 12" in 8 or 4 ohms. | ||||

| Re: Torrent Audio Mistral 12 DVC If you're looking at sealed I think that 3 cu ft fully stuffed would work well for a low Q alignment. If you're looking for a higher Q then you can get down to around 1 cu ft. I think that for the money the Mistral is better than the RS subs. | ||||
