a little help before i get started please.

well im kinda doing this backwards and this will not be my last diy sub. however, i got a couple of sheets of veneered mdf from work and had them cut up to build new cabinets for my speakers. i forgot about the sub while doing this and had to make do w/ the left over 1/2 sheet for the sub. what i came up w/ was an internal dimension of 2cu.ft before bracing.
my question is this. would it be okay to buy an amp that was say, in the 250 to 300w range and put it in here? im assuming that would be too much power for the size and shape ( only a 10" woofer will fit) but figured i could just turn the sub down to match the system.

thanks for the help so fa. please bear w/ me while i try to take in the welth of information here. most of it being ver my head still.

thanks again, michael.

It all depends on what sub it is. For example i have a 10" sub that will take 1000 watts no problem

ccdoggy is correct.

Another thing to think about, 2ft^3 of internal volume may be enough for a few select 12" drivers, of course it depends on the shape of the box. My 2ft^2 box is a 17" cube, just about perfect for a 12" driver.

250-300 watts seems very doable, depending on the driver.

If you don't have a BFD for your sub, get one fast!
If you don't have REW, get it now!

thanks for the information. im not able to use a 12" sub because of the size of the mdf. roughly 11.5x32 per side. so the 10" will just fit, but it sounds like that will not be a problem.
